Analog Signal Summation for Reinforcement Learning via Simultaneous Light–Voltage Modulation in a Synaptic Device

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
To overcome limitations of conventional AI hardware, a light‐voltage dual‐modulating synaptic (LVDS) transistor using an IGZO/InAs quantum dot hybrid structure is proposed. LVDS transistor enables analog summation for Dueling Deep Q‐Networks by independently modulating memory via optical and electrical stimuli.

Spatiotemporal Analysis of Urban Expansion in Beijing, China

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Using Landsat TM/OLI remote sensing images and social statistical data from 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015, and 2020, construction land information in Beijing’s main urban area was extracted with ArcGIS 10.4.1 and other software.

Exploring Drivers of Urban Expansion

open access: yes, 2016
Spatial patterns in urban land development are linked with the level and type of economic activity. Here, we develop a statistical model to explore the relationship between the spatially explicit population density and the type of land use in a region. The relationship between the type of land use (urban/non-urban) and the level of economic activity is

Non‐Equilibrium Synthesis Methods to Create Metastable and High‐Entropy Nanomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Stabilizing multiple elements within a single phase enables the creation of advanced materials with exceptional properties arising from their complex composition. However, under equilibrium conditions, the Hume–Rothery rules impose strict limitations on solid‐state miscibility, restricting combinations of elements with mismatched crystal ...

Containing urban expansion in China: the case of Nanjing

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Planning and Management, 2019
Rapid urban expansion often has negative social, environmental, and ecological consequences. In China, urbanization rates have increased rapidly over the past decades, commensurate with economic growth. This article evaluates how Chinese urban planning was effective in containing urban expansion.

Meter‐Scale Ultra‐Large‐Area Flexible Electroluminescent Devices Enabled by Aerosol Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a simple aerosol spraying method using modified luminescent ink to fabricate meter‐scale flexible alternating current electroluminescent (ACEL) devices. Enhanced particle dispersibility and film uniformity yield impressive brightness up to 500 cd m−2, positioning these devices as effective luminous navigation signs for industrial ...
