Between Community Spaces. Squares of Minor Centers of Calabria [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The theme of open “community spaces” in recent years has to the development of important interdisciplinary issues. Nevertheless, the reading of smaller towns, in urbanistic, historical-anthropological and geographical terms appears less extended ...

Cellular Snowballing: Cell Adhesion and Migration Drive the Self‐Assembly of Cell‐Microgel Biohybrid Spheroids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A new class of biohybrid spheroids is engineered through the self‐assembly of adherent cells and extracellular matrix‐mimetic hydrogel microparticles (microgels). By mimicking a snowballing effect, this approach enables scalable formation of porous, millimeter‐scale spheroids with enhanced cell viability and molecular diffusion.

The territorial capital of urban functional areas as a challenge for regional development policy: An outline of the concept

open access: yes, 2018
Objective: In this article Urban Functional Areas (UFAs) and their essence of matter and leading qualities are considered through the prism of theoretical concepts such as transaction costs, the concept of territorial capital and the space of flows with ...

SR‐B1‐Mediated Transplacental Transfer of Hydrophobic Toxicants Disrupts Fetal Development During Barriergenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study maps the spatiotemporal distribution of hydrophobic toxicants and endogenous metabolites in the developing placenta and fetus. By integrating mass spectrometry imaging with snRNA‐seq, we identify SR‐B1 as a key transporter driving early‐gestation xenobiotic transfer and reveal a critical exposure window associated with persistent fetal ...

Les temps de transport pour délimiter des aires urbaines fonctionnelles ?

open access: yesBelgeo, 2016
This paper is a methodological contribution to the harmonized delineation of potential functional urban areas in Europe, based on a temporal framework that uses isochrones and an accessibility criteria to the city-center.

Spectral Analysis of Traffic Functions in Urban Areas

open access: yesPromet - Traffic&Transportation, 2015
The paper is focused on the Fourier transform application in urban traffic analysis and the use of said transform in traffic decomposition. The traffic function is defined as traffic flow generated by different categories of traffic participants. A Fourier analysis was elaborated in terms of identifying the main traffic function components, called ...

Models of governance in the urban functional areas: Policy lessons from the implementation of integrated territorial investments (ITIs) in Poland

open access: yes, 2017
The aim of this paper is to present the genesis and the development of two models of the “leading path” to the integrated management of functional urban areas of voivodeship centres (FUA VC) in Poland in the context of the implementation of the new ...

Alternating High‐Fat and Polysaccharide Diets Modulates Gut Phage‐Bacterial Interplay

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals how alternating high‐fat and polysaccharide diets reshape the human gut virome and enhance phage‐bacteria interactions. Using large‐scale metagenomic meta‐analysis and a time‐resolved mouse model, the authors show that diets strongly modulate phage abundance, lifestyle, and gene exchange, offering new insights into nutrition‐guided ...

The Application of Soft Modelling and TOPSIS Method for The Analysis of Competitiveness of Companies in Urban Functional Areas in Poland

open access: yes, 2017
The aim of the paper is to use soft modelling and TOPSIS method in order to divide voivodeships in terms of the competitiveness level of companies. The paper verifies the hypothesis implying that the usage of two various research methods does not have ...

Asymmetric Active Center Triggers Side‐On Photo‐Fenton‐Like Reaction Through Polar Charge Transfer and Self‐Adapting Sulfur Vacancies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The Cu‐Zn3In2S6 photocatalyst (Cu‐ZISV) with asymmetric Cu‐SV‐Zn sites was designed and synthesized to boost peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation kinetics. The side‐on photo‐Fenton‐like reaction by the asymmetric Cu‐SV‐Zn site accelerated PMS activation and pollutant degradation, and the first‐order kinetic constant of Cu‐ZISV increased by 4.87 times ...
