Population Growth in Functional Urban Areas
2019This chapter presents an analysis of population change of FUAs in Poland against other municipalities. It analyses differences in population growth or decline between city cores and commuting zones of FUAs. In addition, the study shows trends in population change by size and location of FUAs.

Changes in Migrations in Functional Urban Areas
2019The chapter will analyse the changes in the intensity and directions of migration in FUAs in the years 1990–2016. More specifically, the directions of population migration from and to the cores/commuting zones according to the size of FUAs will be explored (including total and subperiods).

Discovering Urban Functional Areas Based on Node2vec - Taking Shanghai as an Example
International Conference on Intelligent Computation Technology and Automation, 2018As China's urbanization process continues to advance and deepen, the spatial structure within each city is changing constantly. Analyzing the hidden relationship between human and land behind the massive urban data is a hot topic. In this paper, we apply

The Urban Hierarchy and Urban Area Production Function: A Synthesis
Urban Studies, 1977Urban production functions, often used to indicate optimal city size, usually deal with one city in isolation. This paper introduces differing production and transport costs and demand intensities in order to generate an urban hierarchy of differing urban sizes and market areas.

Job accessibility modelling in Prague Functional Urban Area
2017 Smart City Symposium Prague (SCSP), 2017Job accessibility is an important factor of urban transition as it influences the residential location choices made by inhabitants and the location of new residential development projects by developers. Spatial interaction models allow for the assessment of the urban transition potential of localities based on the accessibility of various urban ...

The Population Ageing Process in Functional Urban Areas
2019The chapter will analyse the ageing of the population at the various hierarchical levels of FUAs. The research aims to determine the impact of demographic potential and the size of FUAs on the pace of population ageing in both the core and the external zones. This chapter also explores the impact of suburbanisation processes on differences in the speed
