Enhanced Monocular Depth Estimation Using ResNet Backbone and Multiscale Feature Decoding for Precise Object Distance Measurement

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A lightweight monocular perception framework generates high‐fidelity depth maps and integrates YOLOv8 detection to estimate object‐wise distances from a single RGB image. Evaluated on KITTI and the proposed D‐Far250 dataset, the system demonstrates accurate long‐range perception up to 250 m while maintaining real‐time performance, enabling scalable ...

Capturing residents’ perceptions of green spaces in densifying urban landscapes - The potentials of mental mapping

open access: yes
Understanding residents’ perceptions of green-blue infrastructure (GBI) is critical to ensure continued access to its associated benefits in growing and densifying urban landscapes.

Uncovering renewable energy policy impact channels on land values, the local farm structure, and farmland heterogeneity

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract Germany's Renewable Energy Sources Act (REA), enacted in 2000 and subsequently amended, subsidized national renewable energy production with fixed feed‐in tariffs for renewable energy sources (RE) from wind, solar, and biogas. Empirical studies suggest that the policy was creating windfall effects for landowners and attribute farmland use ...

Linking community structure and climate vulnerability in desert plant assemblages of southern California

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise Desert plant assemblages in southern California provide an opportunity to link patterns of community structure with climate‐driven vulnerability in a rapidly changing environment. California sustains an exceptionally diverse flora of approximately 4300 plant species, with 31% identified as endemic.

Upcycling Water Pollutants Into Long‐Chain Polymers via Synergistic Interfacial Dechlorination and Organic Radical Stabilization

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
HEO‐regulated electronic structure drives nonradical PI activation, promoting ETP‐mediated polymerization of 4CP into high‐molecular‐weight products with enhanced surface enrichment. Concurrent dechlorination occurs via radical coupling and •OHads attack, enabling efficient carbon retention and selective product evolution at the liquid–solid interface.

The rain feels different under the same umbrella: Experiences with poverty across LGBTQ subgroups

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Community Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract Population‐based survey data have demonstrated that LGBTQ communities report varying rates of economic insecurity, yet very little research directly assesses how pathways into and experiences with poverty look different among subgroups at the intersections of sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI).

Strain Engineering via W–O–Ru Interfacial Coupling to Suppress Lattice Oxygen Activation for Stable Acidic Water Electrolysis

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Constructing atomically coupled W–O–Ru interfacial units on RuO2 triggers a dynamic strain evolution during the oxygen evolution reaction. An initial tensile strain secures structural stability, while a self‐adjusting transition to interfacial compression optimizes catalytic activity.

URBACT Health & Greenspace network. Health-responsive planning and management of urban green infrastructure

open access: yes, 2020
In 2017, WHO presented eight classes of green spaces: roadside greenery and other vegetation barriers that could be found along streets or rail tracks; small urban green spaces (such as gardens or pocket parks) and playgrounds; green roofs and facades ...

Land use change, carbon stocks and tree species diversity in green spaces of a secondary city in Myanmar, Pyin Oo Lwin.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
Myanmar undergoes rapid urban expansion and experiences its negative impacts, often due to the loss of urban green spaces. National and local authorities lack sufficient knowledge, capacity and plans on how to preserve urban green spaces and benefit from
