Remote sensing of the urban heat island effect in a highly populated urban agglomeration area in East China.

Science of the Total Environment, 2018
Increasingly urban agglomeration, representing a group of cities with a compact spatial organization and close economic links, can rise surface temperature in a continuous area due to decreasing distance between cities. Significant progress has been made

The Urban Heat Island Effect in Singapore

2007
Buildings can influence climate. The impact is limited for an isolated building but magnifying tremendously for a city. According to Bridgman et al. (1995, p. 15), buildings influence the urban climate in five major ways: by replacing vegetated area, presenting blocky and angular buildings, releasing artificial heat, disposing rainfall rapidly, and ...

The Urban Heat Island Effect at Fairbanks, Alaska

Theoretical and Applied Climatology, 1999
Summary Using climatic data from Fairbanks and rurally situated Eielson Air Force Base in Interior Alaska, the growth of the Fairbanks heat island was studied for the time period 1949‐ 1997. The climate records were examined to distinguish between a general warming trend and the changes due to an increasing heat island effect.
