Land cover change that leads to increased nutrient and sediment runoff is an important driver of change in coral reef ecosystems. In this study, we combined satellite remote sensing and field monitoring to assess concomitant changes in watershed land cover and coral cover in northeastern Puerto Rico in 2000–2015.

Mapping urban impervious surface with dual-polarimetric SAR data: An improved method
© 2016 Elsevier B.V. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data can provide complementary information to improve the mapping of urban impervious surfaces. However, most studies have focused on using only single polarization SAR data.

ABSTRACT Rapid urbanisation and intensifying rainfall have increased cities' vulnerability to flooding, posing major challenges to sustainable development. Although machine learning models have improved flood prediction accuracy, most remain limited by their black‐box nature and lack of actionable insights.

ABSTRACT Over the past few decades, the intensification of global warming has brought increased attention to urban thermal dynamics, particularly regarding Land Surface Temperature (LST) and the Urban Surface Heat Island (SUHI) effect. This study conducts a systematic literature review alongside a bibliometric analysis of 123 peer‐reviewed articles ...

From Plot to Block: Participatory Land Use for Climate‐Resilient Detached Housing in Finland
ABSTRACT This study investigates how urban planning in Finland is adapting to climate change, focusing on the practical challenges planners face in single‐family housing areas. It draws on participatory workshops with municipal planners in Pori and Joensuu, where three planning tools—green factor metrics, impermeable surface limits, and the 3–30‐300 ...

Density and stability of soil organic carbon beneath impervious surfaces in urban areas.
Installation of impervious surfaces in urban areas has attracted increasing attention due to its potential hazard to urban ecosystems. Urban soils are suggested to have robust carbon (C) sequestration capacity; however, the C stocks and dynamics in the ...
