Age and Regional Trends in Groin Hernia Surgery in Japan: An Analysis of Laparoscopic Repair, Outpatient Surgery, and Manual Reduction Using National Database Open Data

Using National Database open data from 2014 to 2023, this nationwide study visualizes age‐, sex‐, and region‐specific trends in groin hernia surgery in Japan. Laparoscopic surgery, outpatient surgery, and manual reduction were analyzed to estimate lifetime surgical burden and patterns of emergency‐related healthcare utilization at the population level.

Autonomous X‐Ray Fluorescence Mapping for Nanoscale Chemical Speciation of Fine Particulate Matter

Advanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
We present X‐AutoMap, an autonomous X‐ray fluorescence mapping framework that integrates real‐time analysis with rule‐based computer vision to selectively target chemically relevant regions. By avoiding background‐dominated areas, the method reduces acquisition time by fourfold while enabling accurate particle‐level speciation.

Neuromorphic cameras deliver rapid, high‐dynamic‐range sensing but overwhelm embedded processors at high speeds. This work presents a lightweight, optimized Lucas–Kanade optical flow method with parallelization, gyroscopic derotation, and adaptive event slicing.
