Differences in Urban Morphology between 77 Cities in China and Europe

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
Urban morphology refers to the physical form of a city that is constantly transformed and updated in the process of urbanization. A valuable source of data on ‘built forms’ is modern remote sensing technology, which provides a variety of products on ...

Bionic Solar‐Powered Heavy Metal Trap for Eco‐Friendly Sludge Drying and Simultaneous Electricity Generation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Herein, we propose a solar‐powered heavy metal trap (SPHT) for sludge disposal. The indoor experiments demonstrated that the sludge water content decreased from 90 % to 31 %, coupled with a decrease in heavy metal content to 6 % at most. Furthermore, the designed SPHT generated an initial potential of 0.10 V, and monitoring this hydrovoltaic potential ...

Seasonal Impacts of Urban Morphology on Vegetation Carbon Sequestration across Urban Functional Blocks

open access: yesEcosystem Health and Sustainability
Vegetation carbon sequestration (VCS) is widely recognized as an important nature-based solutions for offsetting urban carbon emissions. Although previous studies have shown that urban morphology may greatly impact VCS, few have examined the seasonal ...

momepy: Urban Morphology Measuring Toolkit [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Open Source Software, 2019
Urban morphology is the area of urban studies that explores the physical form of cities in space and the way it changes in time in relation to the agents of such change (Kropf, 2017). The discipline is based on the analysis of space, traditionally mostly visual and qualitative (Dibble et al., 2015); its objects are the fundamental elements of urban ...

Adsorption of Forever Chemical Pollutants: The Physical Chemistry of PFAS Near Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Current adsorption‐based remediation techniques for removing per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from water are limited by knowledge gaps on PFAS behavior near solid surfaces. This review provides a state of the art on theoretical and experimental aspects of PFAS adsorption.

Urban conservation and urban morphology in Kiruna, Sweden

open access: yes, 2020
This paper investigates the interaction between urban conservation and urban morphology. This relationship was studied using the three basic components of urban morphology – resolution, form and time – and in the context of the urban transformation of ...

Biomimetic Self‐Reconfigurable Soft Gripper for Cross‐Scale, Multi‐Particle, and High‐Load Multifunctional Manipulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A fully soft, self‐reconfigurable gripper inspired by rapeseed flowers is monolithically 3D‐printed and electronics‐free, switching between diagonal and parallel finger arrangements. Establishing a self‐reconfigurable grasping paradigm, the gripper enables diverse manipulation tasks, including rotating bulbs, picking fruits, grasping cross‐scale ...

Urban Morphology: The Significance of Urban Space History

open access: yesLand
The importance of urban morphology lies with its interdisciplinary approach from architecture over history to geography. However, often enough, its scientific methods only marginally start from the urban space itself that makes morphology tangible in the

Un proceso de remodelación radical del espacio funcional y social, inducido por el nuevo régimen de acumulación. La destrucción de la memoria histórica y del patrimonio urbano [PDF]

open access: yesCiudades, 2018
The rescue of the issue of patrimony in its cultural confinement has been conducted according to patterns of European cities. These pattern sare difficult to apply in other situations; therefore it is important to confront them with the various society ...
