Mapping Urban Environmental Noise Using Smartphones [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2016
Noise mapping is an effective method of visualizing and accessing noise pollution. In this paper, a noise-mapping method based on smartphones to effectively and easily measure environmental noise is proposed. By using this method, a noise map of an entire area can be created using limited measurement data.

Effects of Urban Form on Ambient Air Filter Noise Exposure in Open Areas

open access: yesLand, 2023
Although ambient air filters are commonly used to improve air quality in urban areas, their operation often produces significant noise levels. In this study, we investigated and addressed the issue of ambient air filter noise exposure in open areas of ...

Urban Background Noise Mapping: The General Model [PDF]

open access: yesActa Acustica united with Acustica, 2014
Surveys show that inhabitants of dwellings exposed to high noise levels benefit from having access to a quiet side. However, current practice in noise prediction often underestimates the noise levels at a shielded façade. Multiple reflections between façades in street canyons and inner yards are commonly neglected and façades are approximated as ...

Urban Noise Conflicts in Szeged [PDF]

open access: yesBelvedere Meridionale, 2020
Noise pollution is a serious and complex city problem. While there are objective, measurable parameters for noise mapping assessments, since the effects of noise are also subjectively perceived, it has been difficult to accurately evaluate the urban problems and conflicts arising from noise.

Influence of Shear Effects on the Characteristics of Axisymmetric Wave Propagation in a Buried Fluid-Filled Pipe

open access: yesChinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering, 2022
The acoustic propagation characteristics of axisymmetric waves have been widely used in leak detection of fluid-filled pipes. The related acoustic methods and equipment are gradually coming to the market, but their theoretical research obviously lags ...
