Distributional Welfare Impacts of Public Spending: The Case of Urban versus National Parks [PDF]

open access: yes
This study examines the optimal allocation of funds between national and urban parks. Since travel costs to national parks are significantly higher than to urban parks, poor households tend to visit the latter more frequently, whereas rich households ...

Microneedle‐Based Biofertilizer Delivery Improves Plant Growth Through Microbiome Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This figure shows how microneedles are used to deliver biofertilizers to enhance plant growth through microbial migration, metabolic reprogramming, and changes in plant endogenous microbiome. Abstract This study presents a microneedle‐based system for the delivery of rhizospheric biofertilizers into plant tissues to enhance growth.

Résurgence des premiers parcs victoriens : l’exemple de l’arboretum de Derby

open access: yesCahiers Victoriens et Edouardiens, 2010
It was in the 1830s that the need for parks available for public use in the main towns and cities of Britain was identified in order to face an uncontrolled urbanisation.

The new generation of urban parks and health-promoting landscapes in eco-neighborhoods

open access: yesTechnical Transactions, 2020
The quest for sustainable development and biodiversity protection leads to the creation of a new generation of urban parks where man allows natural plant succession, soil regeneration, and rainwater infiltration.

Upcycling of Disposable Face Masks into Water‐Resistant and Flame Retardant Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Disposable mask waste is upcycled into lightweight polypropylene‐based foams with tunable porosity and composite architectures reinforced by ear‐loop fibers. The sustainable solvent‐based process enables upcycling rates of 91% and solvent recovery of >90%.

Parks and their users [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This paper is concerned with urban parks and their use(r)s. It focuses on usage-spatial relationships from two different angles. Firstly, it discusses the actual uses mapped in places, using repeated observation on different days, times and weather ...

Bio‐Inspired Molecular Events in Poly(Ionic Liquids)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Originating from dipolar and polar inter‐ and intra‐chain interactions of the building blocks, the topologies and morphologies of poly(ionic liquids) (PIL) govern their nano‐ and micro‐processibility. Modulating the interactions of cation‐anion pairs with aliphatic dipolar components enables the tunability of properties, facilitated by “bottom‐up ...

Spin‐Dependent Generation of Surface‐Bound Radicals Toward Selective and Long‐Lasting Water Purification

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops a novel atomic engineering strategy to fine‐tune the spin state of α‐Fe2O3 catalysts toward a medium‐spin state, thereby modulating peroxymonosulfate activation and selectively yielding surface‐bound radicals. Compared with free radicals, surface‐bound radicals exhibit moderated oxidation potential, extended lifespan, surface ...
