Long‐Term Elevated CO2 Improves Soil Health and Rice Yields in Paddy Fields

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Combining the two longest‐running rice free‐air CO2 enrichment experiments with a global data synthesis, this study demonstrates that long‐term elevated CO2 consistently enhances soil health. In rice paddies, this improvement sustains the CO2 fertilization effect over decades.

The Interconnectivity and Spatio-Temporal Evolution of Rail Transit Network Based on Multi-Element Flows: A Case Study of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Urban Agglomeration, China

open access: yesLand
For intercity transportation within urban agglomerations, rail transit interconnectivity not only stimulates city-to-city interactions but also facilitates the networking of urban spaces.

Dysfunctional TRIM31 of POMC Neurons Provokes Hypothalamic Injury and Peripheral Metabolic Disorder under Long‐Term Fine Particulate Matter Exposure

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Particulate matter ≤2.5 µm (PM2.5) elevates risks of neurological and chronic metabolic diseases, but the underlying mechanisms linking PM2.5‐induced central nervous system (CNS) injury to metabolic dysfunction remain unclear. Hypothalamic pro‐opiomelanocortin‐expressing (POMC+) neurons regulate systemic metabolic homeostasis, and tripartite motif ...

How does the household structure shape the urban economy? [PDF]

open access: yes
Households in real cities are heterogeneous regarding their size and composition. This implies that the household structure -i.e. the (average) household size, the composition, the relative share of different household types, and the number of households

A Degradable Bioinspired Flier with Aerogel‐Based Colorimetric Sensors for Environmental Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Biodegradable fliers are developed inspired by Tipuana tipu samaras, integrating cellulose nanocrystal aerogel (CNCa) sensors loaded with natural dyes for pH and ammonia detection. The lightweight, degradable fliers mimic natural morphology and aerodynamics, offering an eco‐friendly, scalable solution for in situ environmental monitoring after passive ...

Identification of the Spatial Structure of Urban Polycentres Based on the Dual Perspective of Population Distribution and Population Mobility

open access: yesLand
The accelerated growth of urban areas has resulted in substantial alterations to the spatial structure of these settlements. The accurate identification of the multi-centre spatial structure is a fundamental prerequisite for the assessment of urban ...

The role of space in the emergence of conceived urban areas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A city is usually made up of numerous different named areas but how these areas are defined is problematic. Lynch (1961) suggests that the sense of urban areas are mainly determined by thematic continuities consisting of spatial characteristics, such as ...

Jobs–housing imbalance, spatial correlation, and excess commuting [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In this paper, we use continuous urban structure instead of zonal model, try to calculateunbiased excess commuting with joint distribution of homes and workplaces developedby Vaughan (1974), and describe the relationship between urban structure and ...

Ecosystem‐Centered Robot Design: Toward Ecoresorbable Sustainability Robots (ESRs)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Robots exploring natural ecosystems can support monitoring and conservation, but must adopt ecosystem‐centered design to avoid pollution, waste, and damage. This review proposes guidelines for co‐designing ecoresorbable sustainability robots (ESRs), uniting materials, robotics, and ecological contexts in a single framework.

Analysis of the relationship between the spatial structure and neighborhood urban Sprawl by Using Space Syntax (Case Study: Shiraz City) [PDF]

open access: yesنشریه جغرافیا و برنامه‌ریزی, 2019
Since the beginning of the present century, the changes in urbanization and its physical transformations have had unfavorable consequences on the structure of the Iranian city, so that the current city, without any attention to its initial construction ...
