A formal model of urban traffic management in a network of four intersections is developed. The aim of the study is to reduce the queues of cars in front of traffic lights and increase the outflow of cars from each intersection in the network. The methodology used for the formalization is the application of bi-level optimization.

The most important part of it is undoubtedly the recommendations made to member governments. These have been well thought out and ought to be adopted almost without exception. They are prefaced with a description of the aims which public policy ought to have, and in the context of traffic noise control, these aims refer to "seeking a realistic balance ...

FLUCTUATIONS IN URBAN TRAFFIC NETWORKS
Modern Physics Letters B, 2008Urban traffic network is a typical complex system, in which movements of tremendous microscopic traffic participants (pedestrians, bicyclists and vehicles) form complicated spatial and temporal dynamics. We collected flow volumes data on the time-dependent activity of a typical urban traffic network, finding that the coupling between the average flux ...

Urban traffic systems modelling methodology
International Journal of Production Economics, 2006Abstract Design, study and management of Urban Traffic Systems (UTS) are increasingly difficult and expensive as existing configurations are multiple and complex. Several approaches exist for modelling and simulating UTS. Current software environments try to take into account as many phenomena and facilities as possible according to a planning level (

Urban Traffic Management and Urban Planning
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012At present, traffic problem has become one of the biggest problems about the development of urban city in China. Faced with this problem, it is important for traffic planning to keep traffic be in accordance with the city. It is a challenge to urban planning, especially to the traditional method by land utilization planning.

Objektivna je činjenica da je planiranje i projektiranje gradskih prometnica veoma složen proces, posebno u području urbanizma, prometa i ekološko-zdravstvenih normativa. Složenost problematike iziskuje višedisciplinarni analitički pristup i sofisticirane postupke rješavanja.
