Bionic Solar‐Powered Heavy Metal Trap for Eco‐Friendly Sludge Drying and Simultaneous Electricity Generation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Herein, we propose a solar‐powered heavy metal trap (SPHT) for sludge disposal. The indoor experiments demonstrated that the sludge water content decreased from 90 % to 31 %, coupled with a decrease in heavy metal content to 6 % at most. Furthermore, the designed SPHT generated an initial potential of 0.10 V, and monitoring this hydrovoltaic potential ...

Temporal and spatial equilibrium of flow on networks

open access: yesHumanities & Social Sciences Communications
Knowing the temporal and spatial equilibrium (TSE) flow is the basis for transportation planning and management of each mode (ocean, air, rail, road, logistics, etc.). It also helps to alleviate congestion of each mode on a transportation network.

Video Multi-Scale-Based End-to-End Rate Control in Deep Contextual Video Compression

open access: yesApplied Sciences
In recent years, video data have increased in size, which results in enormous transmission pressure. Rate control plays an important role in stabilizing video stream transmissions by balancing the rate and distortion of video compression. To achieve high-

Conformal Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces: A Cylindrical Geometry Perspective

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Cylindrical reconfigurable intelligent surfaces are explored for low‐complexity beam steering using one‐bit meta‐atoms. A multi‐level modeling approach, including optimization‐based synthesis, demonstrates that even minimal hardware can support directive scattering.

Experimental study on I/II/III mixed mode fracture characteristics of a combined rock mass under creep loading

open access: yesScientific Reports
I/II/III mixed mode fractures of intersecting joint fissures often occur in natural rock masses, and jointed rock masses are prone to rockbursts in deep underground engineering when subjected to long-term crustal stresses.

Search, Migration, and Urban Land Use: The Case of Transportation Policies [PDF]

open access: yes
We develop a search-matching model with rural-urban migration and an explicit land market. Wages, job creation, urban housing prices are endogenous and we characterize the steady-state equilibrium.

Terahertz Channel Modeling, Estimation and Localization in RIS‐Assisted Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Reconfigurable intelligent surfaces have become a recent intensive research focus. Based on practical applications, channel strategies for RIS‐assisted terahertz wireless communication systems are categorized into three different types: channel modeling, channel estimation, and channel localization.

Active Transport, Public Transportation, and Obesity in Metropolitan Areas of the United States. [PDF]

open access: yes
There is a well established relationship between exercise and weight in individuals. Recently, relationships between less urban sprawl and more leisure exercise and between certain urban characteristics usually associated with less sprawl and exercise ...

Electric Field‐Induced Hole‐ and Electron‐Type Flat Bands in Twisted Double Bilayer Graphene

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
The electronic structure of twisted double bilayer graphene is visualized using angle‐resolved photoemission spectroscopy with micrometer spatial resolution at twists of 3.1∘$^\circ$ and 6.0∘$^\circ$ as a function of gate voltage. Tunable hybridization effects and flat band formation occurs between valence and conduction band states due to a finite ...
