ABSTRACT Transformative change is required to address persistent and systemic drivers of biodiversity loss. There is an urgent need for innovative solutions that tackle root causes in place‐specific contexts. Evidence indicates that small, innovative, purpose‐driven businesses can serve as vehicles for developing place‐based solutions.

Urban tree establishment [PDF]
The aim of this PhD project was to study tree establishment, both how it may be improved in urban areas and how it is measured and defined. The establishment phase of trees is a period of reduced tree vitality, and a successful establishment is crucial for long-term survival and prosperity of newly planted trees.

This study shows that lithium induces Li–Ni–O/Ni heterostructures on biochar, creating oxygen vacancies and optimal acid–base environments that enhance steam activation and suppress carbon deposition. These interfacial effects and synergistic modulation lead to high hydrogen yields at moderate temperatures, providing a scalable catalyst design strategy
