Urea-induced unfolding transitions of recRaPrPC and recHuPrPC proteins analyzed at 25°C by Far-UV CD spectroscopy.

open access: yes, 2016
The buffer contained 20 mM NaOAc, pH 5.5. The unfolded fraction calculated from Δε at 222 nm is plotted as a function of the urea concentration. Insert: ΔG (kJ/mol) versus the urea concentration.

Solvatochromism in urea/water and urea-derivative/water solutions

open access: yes, 2020
This work reports the experimental measurements of solvent acidity (SA), basicity (SB), and solvent dipolarity and polarizability (SPP) for water solutions with urea (U) and its molecular derivatives, monomethyl-urea (MU), 1,3-dimethyl-urea (DMU) and ...

The effect of the antioxidant drug U-74389G on urea levels during ischemia reperfusion injury in rats

open access: yesItalian Journal of Medicine, 2017
This experimental study examined the effect of the antioxidant drug U-74389G, on a rat model and particularly in a renal ischemia- reperfusion protocol. The effects of that molecule were studied biochemically using blood mean urea levels.

Eutectozymes as Soft Hybrid Materials for Advanced Biocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Eutectozymes are sustainable hybrid materials that embed a GOx–HRP cascade within hydrophobic eutectogels featuring a dual supramolecular–covalent network. This architecture preserves native enzyme structure and stability, enables efficient heterogeneous biocatalysis in aqueous media, and positions eutectogels as robust platforms for next‐generation ...

Direct Synthesis of High‐Valence Protein@UiO‐66 Composites: Linking Crystallization Pathways to Protein Encapsulation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work reports a direct, biocompatible method to synthesize UiO‐66, enabling one‐step encapsulation of proteins without compromising crystallinity or activity. Using advanced in situ and ex situ techniques, the study reveals that proteins integrate concurrently with MOF growth, forming crystalline protein@UiO‐66 nanoparticles, and provide insight ...

Dexime: A Selectively Enzyme‐Degradable Hydrogel for Protein Therapeutic Release

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A dextrin‐oxime hydrogel (dexime) is produced using ketone or aldehyde modified dextrin and tetra‐oxyamine modified poly(ethylene glycol). The rheological and mechanical properties of dexime are tunable. Dexime is injectable, cytocompatible, hydrolytically stable, and selectively degradable by α‐amylase.
