Clinical characteristics of preterm and term infants with Ureaplasma in gastric fluid

open access: yesPediatrics and Neonatology
Background: Ureaplasma spp. is an endemic microorganism that causes placental chorioamnionitis or preterm delivery in pregnant women, and the occurrence of bronchopulmonary dysplasia or intraventricular hemorrhaging in preterm infants after birth ...

Roles of the vagina and the vaginal microbiota in urinary tract infection: evidence from clinical correlations and experimental models

open access: yesGMS Infectious Diseases, 2020
Mounting evidence indicates that the vagina can harbor uropathogenic bacteria. Here, we consider three roles played by the vagina and its bacterial inhabitants in urinary tract infection (UTI) and urinary health.

Chorioamnionitis secondary to Ureaplasma parvum infection: a case report

open access: yesAdvances in Laboratory Medicine, 2023
Ureaplasma species are the most frequently isolated microorganisms in cases of spontaneous preterm labor, premature rupture of the membranes, or chorioamnionitis.

Comparative genome analysis of 19 Ureaplasma urealyticum and Ureaplasma parvumstrains [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Microbiology, 2012
Abstract Background Ureaplasma urealyticum (UUR) and Ureaplasma parvum (UPA) are sexually transmitted bacteria among humans implicated in a variety of disease states including but not limited to: nongonococcal urethritis, infertility, adverse pregnancy outcomes, chorioamnionitis, and bronchopulmonary ...

Sexually Transmitted Infection Prevalence and Determinants Among Sexual Health Clinic Attendees in Bucharest, Romania

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
Cross‐sectional study among 70 sexual health clinic attendees (70% MSM) in Bucharest combining multisite STI testing with knowledge, attitudes, and practices assessment. Key findings include 35.5% bacterial STI prevalence, essential extragenital testing, and cost barriers to screening uptake.

Impact of Doxycycline Prophylaxis on Reducing Ureaplasma and Mycoplasma‐Related Complications in Lung Transplant Recipients

open access: yesTransplant Infectious Disease, EarlyView.
Doxycycline prophylaxis in lung transplant recipients was associated with reduced hyperammonemia syndrome and shorter ventilation, ICU, and hospital stays. These findings suggest that doxycycline prophylaxis may help prevent Ureaplasma/Mycoplasma‐related morbidity.

Microbial Contributions to Primate Reproduction

open access: yesEvolutionary Anthropology: Issues, News, and Reviews, Volume 35, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Reproduction is a complex process, and microbes play a far greater role than previously imagined. This review explores the ways that microbiomes influence the rich tapestry of reproductive processes and outcomes within the primate lineage, including pre‐copulatory and post‐copulatory mechanisms.

Flurofamide Prevention and Treatment of Ureaplasma-Induced Hyperammonemia

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum, 2022
Hyperammonemia (HA) syndrome caused by respiratory infection with ammonia (NH3)-producing Ureaplasma species occurs in 4% of lung transplant recipients (LTRs) and is associated with high mortality.

Microbiome‐urothelium crosstalk in bladder cancer: From dysbiosis to clinical translation

open access: yesiMetaOmics, Volume 3, Issue 1, March 2026.
This review elucidates the critical crosstalk between the urobiome and bladder cancer (BCa), mapping the landscape from ecological dysbiosis to clinical translation. We synthesize emerging evidence on microbial signatures that distinguish BCa patients, exploring key carcinogenic mechanisms including chronic inflammation, genotoxicity, and the gut ...
