Intraoperative Ureter Visualization Using a Novel Near-Infrared Fluorescent Dye.
Molecular Pharmaceutics, 2018Ureters can be accidentally severed during pelvic surgeries, significantly prolonging the times in the operating room to allow for complete repair of damaged ureters and leading to significant morbidities associated with consequent ureter obstruction and

Urine moves from the kidney to the bladder through the ureter. A series of compression waves facilitates this transport. Due to the highly concentrated mineral deposits in urine, stones are formed in the kidney and travel down through the urinary tract ...

Malacoplakia of the urinary tract affects primarily the bladder and secondarily the distal ureter. Characteristic gross and microscopic lesions have been well described. A case of malacoplakia is reported in a 55-year-old woman who presented with hydronephrosis in a solitary kidney.

A rare case of carcinosarcoma of the ureter is reported. Histologically, this neoplasia was an unusual heterologous carcinosarcoma of the ureter. 2 years after the initial total nephroureterectomy, the patient died from recurrence.

Diversion of the urinary stream to an isolated loop of ileum is considered superior to other methods of urinary diversion except for short-term palliation in advanced cancer of the bladder, for which uretero-sigmoidostomy is preferred. A series of 272 ileal loop diversions is described.Ectopic ureter, ureteral carcinoma, injuries and calculi are also ...

We report a case of leiomyoma of the ureter, and the patient underwent partial ureteral resection. This is the 8th case reported after 1955, and the clinical features of ureteral leiomyomas of these 8 cases are discussed.

Ureteral replacement has always been a challenge. Two approaches have been explored: in situ augmentation or replacement and extra-anatomic passage of a conduit. An in-situ prosthetic ureter is basically a simple al. loplastic tube connected to the urinary tract by end-to-end sutures or by intubation and closure.
