Genetically‐targeted control of the spinal cord and peripheral nervous system

open access: yesJournal of Intelligent Medicine, EarlyView.
Application of genetically‐targeted stimulation for treating diseases or injuries outside the brain. Optogenetic and chemogenetic systems have been developed for dysfunction in the cochlea, spinal cord, dorsal root ganglia (DRGs), peripheral nerves, lower urinary tract, and enteric nervous system (ENS). Peyronie's disease development and management in diabetic men

open access: yesAndrology, Volume 11, Issue 2, Page 372-378, February 2023., 2023
Abstract Background Peyronie's disease (PD) is a fibrosing disorder of the penis resulting in plaque formation and penile deformity that negatively affect sexual and psychosocial function of patients. A multifactorial etiology of PD is assumed with diabetes mellitus (DM) being a potential risk factor.

A New Automated Ultrasound Quantification of Urethral Mobility for Stress Urinary Incontinence

open access: yesJournal of Ultrasound in Medicine, EarlyView.
Objectives Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is a prevalent condition that can significantly affect quality of life. Urethral mobility is an important factor in SUI and transperineal ultrasound (TPUS) imaging can provide clear visualization of this movement; however, its quantification has been limited.

IGFBP5 antisense and short hairpin RNA (shRNA) constructs improve erectile function by inducing cavernosum angiogenesis in diabetic mice

open access: yesAndrology, Volume 11, Issue 2, Page 358-371, February 2023., 2023
Abstract Background The incidence of diabetic erectile dysfunction (ED) is rapidly increasing, and due to the severe angiopathy caused by diabetes, current drugs are ineffective at treating ED. Insulin‐like growth factor‐binding protein 5 (IGFBP5) promotes cell death and induces apoptosis in various cell types.

The management of erectile dysfunction in men with diabetes mellitus unresponsive to phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors

open access: yesAndrology, Volume 11, Issue 2, Page 257-269, February 2023., 2023
Abstract Introduction Erectile dysfunction is associated with diabetes mellitus with an estimated prevalence of 52.5% in the diabetic population. The first‐line therapy for erectile dysfunction is phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors, but data suggest that diabetic men may be less responsive than non‐diabetic men.

A graphical user interface for Monte Carlo dose calculations for brachytherapy with egs_brachy

open access: yesMedical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Recent advancements in brachytherapy necessitate precise dose calculations, transitioning from the traditional TG43 planning methods to the more sophisticated TG186 recommendations. However, the availability of accessible and efficient Monte Carlo (MC) codes capable of interfacing with clinical data for these advanced calculations ...
