The most common etiologies are traumatic injury, iatrogenic injury, and inflammatory disease resulting in periurethral fibrosis. Hallmark symptoms are frequency and urgency, and may also be dysuria, hesitancy, slow stream, incontinence, and recurrent urinary tract infections.
