A Conformal Wearable Ultrasound Bioelectronics for Mechanotherapy Reprogramming of Fibroblast Plasticity via Wnt‐FGF10 Axis to Overcome Fibrotic Healing in Urethral Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Fibrotic scarring persistently challenges urethral reconstruction. This study introduces a conformal, wearable ultrasound bioelectronic system that overcomes this by reprogramming fibroblast fate. The device activates a developmental Wnt–FGF10 axis, driving fibroblasts toward a regenerative FGF10+ phenotype that promotes angiogenesis and matrix ...

Effective Reconstruction of Functional Urethra Promoted With ICG-001 Delivery Using Core-Shell Collagen/Poly(Llactide-co-caprolactone) [P(LLA-CL)] Nanoyarn-Based Scaffold: A Study in Dog Model

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, 2020
Hypospadias and urethral stricture are common urological diseases which seriously affect voiding function and life quality of the patients, yet current clinical treatments often result in unsatisfactory clinical outcome with frequent complications.

Impact of Abdominoperineal Resection on Postoperative Male Sexual Function After Minimally Invasive Rectal Cancer Surgery: A Subgroup Analysis From the LANDMARC Study

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Abdominoperineal resection (APR) after minimally invasive rectal cancer surgery was associated with significantly higher rates of erectile and early ejaculatory dysfunction compared with anal‐sparing surgery. Although ejaculatory function showed partial recovery over time, erectile dysfunction persisted up to 12 months postoperatively.

URETHRAL DISEASE AND MARRIAGE. [PDF]

open access: yesJAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1899
One who has followed the literature of pelvic surgery for the last few years has no doubt come to believe that the great majority of cases of salpingitis and allied diseases are of gonorrheal origin. One need not have practiced medicine for a long time before having under his care patients who give a history of perfect health before marriage, but that ...

Sonographic evaluation of male anterior urethral strictures: Correlation with retrograde urethrography – A review

open access: yesIbom Medical Journal, 2018
In general, the term urethral stricture refers to a fibrous scarring of the urethra caused by collagen and fibroblast proliferation.1-3 The scarring process can extend through the tissue of the corpus spongiosum into adjacent structures and this ...

Imaging of urethral stricture disease.

open access: yesTranslational andrology and urology, 2015
Accurate imaging of urethral strictures is critical for preoperative staging and planning of reconstruction. The current gold standard, retrograde urethrography (RUG), allows for accurate diagnosis, staging, and delineation of urethral strictures, and remains a cornerstone in the management of urethral stricture disease.

Differentiating the Clinical and Variant Spectrum of Hardikar Syndrome From Other MED12‐Related Developmental Disorders

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The rare X‐linked female‐restricted Hardikar syndrome (HDKR, OMIM # 301068) is characterized by multiple congenital anomalies including orofacial clefts, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and cardiac anomalies, but cognitive and neurobehavioral development is rarely impaired.

Genome Sequencing in 19 Families With Bladder Exstrophy and Epispadias Complex Indicates Involvement of the ADGR‐Gene Family

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Bladder exstrophy and epispadias complex (BEEC) is one of the most severe congenital malformations of the urogenital tract, significantly impacting continence, sexual function, and renal function. To date, the only recurrent genetic aberration identified is the 22q.11.2 microduplication, but several candidate regions and genes including ...

Changing Concept of Urethral Stricture Disease

open access: yesApollo Medicine, 2009
Urethral strictures was always a challenging disease for the urologist and fight to find a ideal and perfect operation is still not over. However in last 20 years newer concepts have evolved which has vastly improved the outcome. End to end urethroplasty and buccal mucosal substitution urethroplasty have become more common operation.
