Background. Congenital urethral obstruction occurs most frequently as a result of urethral valves. The diagnosis is usually confirmed pre- or neonatally. Though not ideal, delayed diagnosis can occur in childhood, adolescence, or adulthood.

Intermittent catheter use can damage the urinary tract and predispose to infection. We deployed a complex human urothelial model to investigate. Catheter contact induced compressive and shear stress causing umbrella cell disruption, reduced barrier function, inflammation and increased cell adhesion to the catheter surface.

Prenatal sonographic features and outcome of in utero resolution of the anterior urethral valve in one of the twin

Anterior urethral valve is a rare cause of lower urinary tract obstruction, and its prenatal diagnosis rate is low. We reported intrauterine remission of the anterior urethral valve in one of the twin.
