Urethral Strictures in Children
Journal of Urology, 1983During a 12-year period 57 children presented for treatment of urethral strictures. The patients ranged in age from 2 months to 18 years and there was 1 girl. The Anatomy of the Urethral Stricture
British Journal of Urology, 1977A post-mortem study of the urethral anatomy following gonorrhoea is presented. The different specimens examined demonstrated lesions ranging from microscopic submucosal scars to fully developed urethral strictures. In every specimen extensive squamous metaplasia of the surface epithelium was present.

While common in adult males, urethral strictures are comparatively rare in boys. We report our experience with this condition in 19 boys. Ten of the strictures were iatrogenic, seven traumatic, and three inflammatory in origin. Dilation is reportedly unsatisfactory for the management of most urethral strictures in children.
