Pedicle Patch Urethroplasty

Summary— The pedicle patch urethroplasty provides an alternative single‐stage vascularised graft procedure for the repair of moderately severe hypospadias. Over a 7‐year period, 38 primary hypospadias repairs were performed employing this technique. The fistula rate was 18% in the 34 patients reviewed, but there were few other significant complications.

Transpubic Urethroplasty in Children

In 12 children with membranous urethral strictures transpubic urethroplasty has been performed successfully with minimal morbidity and no mortality. Of the 12 patients 8 are completely continent after transpubic urethroplasty, 2 have partial continence and 2 are incontinent.

Tunica vaginalis urethroplasty

Tunica vaginalis on a vascular pedicle was tubularized and used as a urethra to repair hypospadias in three difficult cases. This is the first report of tunica vaginalis utilized for a urethral reconstruction in humans. This new surgical technique is described.
