A Robotic Urinary Bladder Enabling Volume Monitoring and Assisted Micturition
Advanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView. An implantable robotic bladder is presented that can store urine in an origami‐designed enclosure. An inductance sensing principle can monitor and transfer the urine volume in real‐time. It can actively expand based on the amount of urine collected from kidneys and apply on‐demand mechanical compression to assist urination.Izadyar Tamadon, Michele Ibrahimi, Federica Semproni, Veronica Iacovacci, Arianna Menciassi +4 morewiley +1 more sourceLocal DRLs and automated risk estimation in paediatric interventional cardiology [PDF]
, 2019 Introduction : Cardiac catheterization procedures result in high radiation doses and often multiple procedures are necessary for congenital heart disease patients. However, diagnostic reference levels (DRL) remain scarce.Bacher, Klaus, Buytaert, Dimitri, De Wolf, Daniël, PANZER, JOSEPH, Rubbens, Lukas, Vandekerckhove, Kristof +5 morecore +2 more sourcesCuneiform Nucleus Stimulation Can Assist Gait Training to Promote Locomotor Recovery in Individuals With Incomplete Tetraplegia
Annals of Neurology, EarlyView.Objective
Impaired ability to induce stepping after incomplete spinal cord injury (SCI) can limit the efficacy of locomotor training, often leaving patients wheelchair‐bound. The cuneiform nucleus (CNF), a key mesencephalic locomotor control center, modulates the activity of spinal locomotor centers via the reticulospinal tract.Anna‐Sophie Hofer, Lennart H. Advanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView. This review highlights the different types of recent implantable drug delivery systems (IDDS) fabricated for a use with skeletal muscles, and with eyes. It presents the developments already made and the current research directions, showing the evolution of IDDS and their great diversity.Serge Ostrovidov, Murugan Ramalingam, Hongkai Wu, Toshinori Fujie, Yukinari Nakamura, Takeshi Hori, Yuji Nashimoto, Xuetao Shi, Hirokazu Kaji +8 morewiley +1 more sourceStructure–function correlates of fibrinogen binding by Acinetobacter adhesins critical in catheter-associated urinary tract infections

Arthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.Objective
To compare the efficacy of abatacept to placebo for the treatment of relapsing, nonsevere granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA). Methods
In this multicenter trial, eligible patients with relapsing, nonsevere GPA were randomized to receive abatacept 125 mg subcutaneously once a week or placebo, both together with prednisone 30 mg/day (or ...Carol A. British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.Aim
Cannabis‐based medicines are gaining interest and being explored for new therapeutic indications, many of which commonly affect older medical patients. As most previous studies of the population pharmacokinetics of cannabinoids have been performed in healthy adults, this study aimed to investigate the population pharmacokinetics of Δ9 ...Ida Klitzing Storgaard, Rikke Lundsgaard Nielsen, Morten Baltzer Houlind, Olivia Bornæs, Louise Westberg Strejby Christensen, Aino Leegaard Andersen, Helle Gybel Juul‐Larsen, Lillian Mørch Jørgensen, Torben Breindahl, Baker Nawfal Jawad, Izzet Altintas, Ove Andersen, Trine Meldgaard Lund +12 morewiley +1 more sourceShort-term effects of suprapubic catheterization on detrusor muscle contraction in a rat model of postoperative urinary dysfunction
