Integrated Ultrasound Device for Precision Bladder Volume Monitoring via Acoustic Focusing and Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present a conformable wearable ultrasound patch for noninvasive bladder volume monitoring. A flexible PZT array combined with a concave acoustic lens concentrates acoustic energy and improves depth selectivity through the anterior pelvic wall.

Rapid and Direct Detection of Methamphetamine in Biofluids using a MXene‐Enabled Electrochemical Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A MXene‐enhanced electrochemical sensor enables the rapid and direct detection of methamphetamine. Molecular simulations reveal that specific MXene surface functional groups act as key signal amplifiers by facilitating interfacial interactions. The sensor demonstrates high sensitivity and robust performance in complex biological matrices.

Risk Factors for Anastomotic Stricture and Obstructive Symptoms Following Double‐Flap Technique Reconstruction After Proximal Gastrectomy

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This retrospective study investigated risk factors for anastomotic stricture and obstructive symptoms following double‐flap technique (DFT) reconstruction after proximal gastrectomy. Mucosal detachment, potentially caused by thermal damage, was identified as a significant risk factor for anastomotic stricture, while continuous suturing at the esophago ...

Effect of clean intermittent self-catheterization on urinary tract infection in subject with spinal cord injury

open access: yesUniversa Medicina, 2008
Patients with spinal cord injury are often unable to empty their bladders sufficiently. If this condition is left untreated, urinary tract infection (UTI) is unavoidable, with potentially lethal consequences.

Penile Erosion in a Paraplegic Man With Indwelling Urinary Catheter and Scrotal Edema

open access: yesUrology Case Reports, 2017
The chronic use of urinary indwelling catheters is a common practice in the setting of long-term patient care and is associated with numerous complications. More awareness about urogenital trauma from urinary catheterization is needed, as it is as common

Urinary retention after total joint arthroplasty of hip and knee: Systematic review

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Surgery, 2020
Purpose: Postoperative urinary retention (POUR) is a common complication after total joint arthroplasties (TJAs). The POUR is managed with urinary catheterization, which is associated with a risk of urinary tract infection and subsequent periprosthetic ...

A Robotic Urinary Bladder Enabling Volume Monitoring and Assisted Micturition

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
An implantable robotic bladder is presented that can store urine in an origami‐designed enclosure. An inductance sensing principle can monitor and transfer the urine volume in real‐time. It can actively expand based on the amount of urine collected from kidneys and apply on‐demand mechanical compression to assist urination.
