Long-term Outcomes of Periurethral Sphincter Botulinum Toxin in Female Chronic Urinary Retention [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Neurourology Journal
Purpose Nonneurogenic chronic urinary retention is an uncommon problem in young female individuals, and a well characterised causes is Fowler syndrome (primary disorder of urethral sphincter relaxation). Intermittent catheterisation is often challenging,

Site-Specific Neuromodulation of Detrusor and External Urethral Sphincter by Epidural Spinal Cord Stimulation

open access: yesFrontiers in Systems Neuroscience, 2020
Impairments of the lower urinary tract function including urine storage and voiding are widely spread among patients with spinal cord injuries. The management of such patients includes bladder catheterization, surgical and pharmacological approaches ...

A transfer-learning approach for lesion detection in endoscopic images from the urinary tract [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Ureteroscopy and cystoscopy are the gold standard methods to identify and treat tumors along the urinary tract. It has been reported that during a normal procedure a rate of 10-20 % of the lesions could be missed. In this work we study the implementation of 3 different Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), using a 2-steps training strategy, to classify

Urinary Artificial Sphincter in Male Stress Urinary Incontinence: Where Are We Today? A Narrative Review

open access: yesUro, 2023
Introduction: Urinary incontinence is a prevalent condition, especially in elderly men, with stress urinary incontinence (SUI) being a common cause after radical prostatectomy. The artificial urinary sphincter (AUS), particularly the AMS 800™ device, has

Semi-Automatic Labeling and Semantic Segmentation of Gram-Stained Microscopic Images from DIBaS Dataset [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
In this paper, a semi-automatic annotation of bacteria genera and species from DIBaS dataset is implemented using clustering and thresholding algorithms. A Deep learning model is trained to achieve the semantic segmentation and classification of the bacteria species. Classification accuracy of 95% is achieved.
