Comparing the effects of intravenous injection and intranasal atomisation of detomidine in sheep

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 9, Issue 1, Page 353-362, January 2023., 2023
This paper compares the intravenous and intranasal routs of Detomidine administration in sheep. Abstract Background Detomidine is an α‐2 agonist sedative drug which reduces the release of norepinephrine in nerves. Administering this drug through intranasal (IN) route could cause direct transmission to the central nervous system.

Oral flora of domestic cats in Hong Kong: Identification of antibiotic‐resistant strains

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 9, Issue 1, Page 25-36, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Background As the clinical outcome of bite‐associated infection is related to the oral commensals, evaluating their composition and antibiotic susceptibility pattern can provide more information for the antibiotic treatment of wound infections and increase the awareness of the multidrug‐resistant bacteria in cat oral flora. Aims This study was

Raman spectroscopy as a tool for reagent free estimation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
We present results of Raman spectroscopic studies of urine to determine the suitability of near-infrared Raman spectroscopy for quantitative estimation of urinary urea. The Raman spectra were acquired from the urine samples with an inbuilt Raman spectroscopy setup that employs a 785-nm diode laser as the Raman excitation source.

A neobladder is created as part of urinary diversion; however, the formation of bladder stones is often a late complication‐related concern. Case Presentation A 56‐year‐old man underwent radical cystectomy and neobladder construction for bladder ...

Severe Vesico-ureteral Reflux and Urine Sequestration: Mathematical Relations and Urodynamic Consequences [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2009
Some simple mathematical formulae to calculate the volumes of proximal pyeloureteral reflexive systems are presented, and the results are compared to bladder capacity values. Using the results of the calculi, the author discusses possible implications of severe urinary sequestration in the pyeloureteral systems.
