An Ensemble Machine Learning Approach for Screening Covid-19 based on Urine Parameters [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
The rapid spread of COVID-19 and the emergence of new variants underscore the importance of effective screening measures. Rapid diagnosis and subsequent quarantine of infected individuals can prevent further spread of the virus in society. While PCR tests are the gold standard for COVID-19 diagnosis, they are costly and time-consuming.

AI‐Driven Defecation Analysis by Smart Healthcare Toilet: Exploring Biometric Patterns and Eu‐Tenesmus

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A healthcare toilet system is introduced to passively measure defecation behavior. Real‐time data on stool dropping duration, thickness, and a newly defined “eu‐tenesmus” interval show correlations with stool form and gender differences. Results from 45 defecation events reveal a promising method for comprehensive defecation analysis.

Gut Microbiota-derived Bile Acids Promote Gamma-secretase Activity Through Interactions with Nicastrin Subunits [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Alzheimer's disease (AD) has emerged as a progressively pervasive neurodegenerative disorder worldwide. Bile acids, synthesized in the liver and modified by the gut microbiota, play pivotal roles in diverse physiological processes, and their dysregulation in individuals with AD has been well-documented.

Two New Cases Expand the Phenotypic Spectrum of TUBG1 Missense Variants

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The gamma‐tubulin ring complex (γ‐TuRC) plays a role in coordinating centrosome and spindle pole body formation during cell division. TUBG1 encodes a critical component of the γ‐TuRC. Pathogenic TUBG1 variants can cause a range of alterations in cortical gyral patterning, microcephaly, and other neurological manifestations.

Identifying Daily Living Skills From Childhood and Adolescence Predictive of Adult Outcomes in a Longitudinal Study of Autism and Related Developmental Conditions

open access: yesAutism Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Challenges in daily living skills (DLS) are well‐documented in autism and other developmental conditions. Research has also cataloged challenges in adult outcome attainment among autistic individuals and those with other developmental conditions; stronger DLS are associated with a higher likelihood of attaining some adult outcomes. Little work

Properties of charge-exchange giant spin-dipole resonances in medium-heavy closed-shell parent nuclei: a semimicroscopic description [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
The semimicroscopic particle-hole dispersive optical model is adapted for a description of main properties of charge-exchange giant spin-multipole resonances in medium-heavy closed-shell parent nuclei. The adapted model is implemented to evaluating the strength functions, transition densities, and branching ratios of direct one-nucleon decay for charge-
