EXCRETION OF ORGANIC IODINE IN THE URINE OF NORMAL AND HYPERTHYROID RATS

Acta Endocrinologica, 1964
ABSTRACT An extensive review of the thyroid hormone by Pitt-Rivers & Tata (1959) indicates that the principal if not the only urinary metabolite of thyroid hormone is inorganic iodide in normal rats. In a series of normal and hyperthyroid rats injected with 131I labeled triiodothyronine (T3–131I) this was not observed to occur.

VALUE OF SINGLE URINE SPECIMENS IN ESTIMATION OF 24 HOUR URINE IODINE EXCRETION

Acta Endocrinologica, 1973
ABSTRACT The excretion of iodine both in a 24 hour urine collection and per g of creatinine in a single afternoon specimen was studied in 33 physicians and 29 nurses in Oslo. The mean 24 hour excretion in males was 216 μg/24 h and in females 165 μg/24 h. The mean ratio between total urinary iodine excretion in 24 hours and the excretion

Daily urine iodine excretion while consuming a low-iodine diet in preparation for radioactive iodine therapy in a high iodine intake area.

Clinical endocrinology, 2012
Recommended durations of low-iodine diet (LID) in preparation for radioactive iodine therapy (RAIT) vary among major guidelines and are important for patients in areas where iodine intake is high. The aim of this study was to investigate daily changes in urine iodine excretion after starting a LID.The daily iodine/creatinine (I/Cr) ratios and simple ...

IODINE EXCRETION IN URINE, SALIVA, GASTRIC JUICE AND SWEAT IN DEHALOGENASE DEFICIENCY

Journal of Endocrinology, 1966
SUMMARY The excretion of iodine in urine, saliva, gastric juice and sweat has been studied by using 131I-labelled monoiodotyrosine in a patient with the dehalogenase type of dyshormonogenesis. Iodinated components 'x', iodide, monoiodotyrosine and 'y' were found in the urine.

A Pilot Study of Urine Iodine Excretion in a Selected Cohort in Phoenix

Endocrine Practice, 1995
A pilot study of twenty-four hour urine iodine excretion was carried out in 34 adults who were employees (or their spouses) of Maricopa Medical Center and residents of the Phoenix area. Based on previous estimations, our expectation was that urine iodine excretion values should be high.

Urine iodine excretion in patients with papillary thyroid cancer evaluation of the relationship with the presence of BRAF mutation

Journal of Elementology, 2020
Iodine is an essential element for the production of thyroid hormones. In recent years, it has been suggested that excessive consumption of iodine may play a role in the pathogenesis of papillary thyroid cancer (PTC). In addition, studies have suggested that high iodine consumption is an important risk factor for the formation of a BRAF mutation in the

[Iodine content in diet and excretion of iodine in urine].

Zeitschrift fur Ernahrungswissenschaft, 1996
The standard food for our volunteers, prepared in the central kitchen of the University Hospital of Tubingen, consisted of breakfast, warm lunch and cold supper and contained, on average, approximately 230 micrograms of iodine/day. It is generally assumed that an equilibrium is established between iodine intake from food and urinary iodine excretion ...

Estimation of iodine nutrition status among lactating women with adequate iodine based on fractional iodine excretion in urine

British Journal of Nutrition
AbstractData on the distribution of iodine in the urine and breast milk of lactating women are limited. This study aimed to establish a formula to assess iodine status in lactating women by evaluating the fractional iodine excretion in urine and breast milk. A 3-d 24-h iodine metabolism survey in 2021–2023 was conducted on fifty-four pairs of lactating

Urinary iodine excretion (UIE) estimated by iodine/creatinine ratio from spot urine in Chinese school‐age children

Clinical Endocrinology, 2016
SummaryObjectiveTo assess the validity of urinary iodine excretion (UIE) estimated by urinary iodine/creatinine ratio (UI/Cr) from spot urines in Chinese school‐age children.DesignA cross‐sectional survey was performed in which twice‐repeated collections of 24‐h urine, and spot urine samples were obtained within 1 month.MeasurementsUrinary iodine ...

Influence of iodine ions in drinking water on their excretion with urine.

Annales Universitatis Mariae Curie-Sklodowska. Sectio D: Medicina, 2003
The purpose of the work was to appraise the correlation between magnitude of iodine excretion with urine and concentration of iodine ions in drinking water in the population living in the Lublin province. The tests were also performed among the citizens of the Zamość voivodship.
