Toxicity Differences Between Microplastics and Nanoplastics in Organs: From Molecular Mechanisms to Potential Therapeutic Strategies

open access: yesMed Research, EarlyView.
This review systematically compares the size‐dependent toxicity of microplastics and nanoplastics in the intestine, liver, kidney, lung, and brain. Particle size determines bioavailability, barrier penetration, and injury mechanisms. Because of their small size and high surface reactivity, NPs readily cross the intestinal epithelium and blood–brain ...

Melanopsin‐Mediated Post‐Illumination Pupillary Response in Idiopathic Rapid Eye Movement (REM) Sleep Behavior Disorder and Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims To conduct a case–control study to investigate melanopsin‐mediated post‐illumination pupillary response (PIPR) in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD), video‐polysomnography‐confirmed isolated/idiopathic rapid eye movement (REM) sleep behavior disorder (iRBD), and age‐matched healthy controls (HC). Methods PIPR was measured at 6 s after

Quantification of 10B and 11B in Biological Samples in Translational Science and Clinical Applications for Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT)

open access: yesMedicinal Research Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) is a targeted radiotherapy that exploits the selective accumulation of the 10B isotope within tumors, followed by irradiation with low‐energy neutrons to induce high linear energy transfer particles with short path lengths, resulting in localized tumor cell destruction while sparing surrounding healthy ...

Proteomic Profiling of Myofiber Repair Annexins and Their Role in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

open access: yesPROTEOMICS, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Myofiber regeneration and membrane repair play crucial roles in maintaining the continuous physiological functioning of the neuromuscular system. A swift and efficient repair mechanism enables the rapid restoration of sarcolemmal integrity following cellular impairment in damaged skeletal muscles.

From cytokine storm to renal scarring in diabetic kidney disease: Biomarkers, risk stratification, and precision therapeutics

open access: yesPrecision Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
Hyperglycemia‐driven cytokine activation initiates a sustained inflammatory cascade in diabetic kidney disease, promoting cellular injury and fibrogenic signaling. Integrating cytokine‐based biomarkers with risk stratification enables precision therapeutics that target inflammation and fibrosis, ultimately aiming to halt progression from early renal ...

Safety, efficacy, pharmacokinetics, and mechanisms of novel 10B‐boronophenylalanine combined with a radio‐frequency quadrupole accelerator in boron neutron capture therapy: A preclinical study in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesPrecision Radiation Oncology, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that the novel 10B‐BPA‐based BNCT system, combined with an RFQ accelerator, effectively targets head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. It induces tumor regression safely and efficiently by triggering DNA damage and activating the ROS/HIF‐1α/NF‐κB pathway, leading to caspase‐3‐mediated apoptosis.
