WebVector: agents with URLs

Proceedings of IEEE 6th Workshop on Enabling Technologies: Infrastructure for Collaborative Enterprises, 2002
Emerging web applications demand considerable network resources and, especially in science and engineering, considerable computational resources. The use of agents can eliminate bottlenecks in both areas, provided that their methods of computation and communication are not overly restricted.

Efficient summarization of URLs using CRC32 for implementing URL switching

27th Annual IEEE Conference on Local Computer Networks, 2002. Proceedings. LCN 2002., 2003
We investigate methods of using CRC32 for compressing Web URL strings and sharing of URL lists between servers, caches, and URL switches. Using trace-based evaluation, we compare our new CRC32 digesting method against the existing Bloom filter and incremental CRC19 methods.

Utilizing URLs Position to Estimate Intrinsic Query-URL Relevance

2013 IEEE 13th International Conference on Data Mining, 2013
Query-URL relevance (QUR) is an important criterion to measure the quality of commercial search engines. However, the traditional way to collect high-quality QURs is time-consuming and labor-intensive since it is primarily based on human judges. To address these issues, numerous models have been studied to automatically infer the QURs. Unlike the prior

A High-Performance URL Lookup Engine for URL Filtering Systems

2010 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2010
URL filtering systems provide a simple and effective way to prevent people from browsing undesirable or malicious websites. These systems require a well-designed URL lookup method as the core operation. A high-performance URL lookup engine is proposed in this paper for URL filtering systems.

URL diving

IEEE Internet Computing, 1998
Perhaps the most important difference among search sites is how they are structured, both internally and externally. Sites such as Yahoo include a highly structured system of categories to help users drill down to the site they want. Others, such as AltaVista, accept only word-based searches with no categorical structure or browsing at all.
