Growth and senescence of Urochloa brizantha under Brazilian Cerrado conditions

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Agricultural Research, 2017
The growth and senescence of Urochloa brizantha cv. Marandu were analyzed under the Brazilian Cerrado conditions. The seeds were sowed in November at the beginning of the rainy season. Samples of tillers were collected. The culms, inflorescences, along with green and dead leaves were removed to obtain leaf area and dry matter measurements.

Productive capacity of Brachiaria brizantha (Syn. Urochloa brizantha) cv. Marandu subjected to liming and nitrogen application [PDF]

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Agricultural Research, 2018
This work aims to evaluate production of Brachiaria brizantha (Syn. Urochloa brizantha) cv. Marandu subjected to liming and nitrogen fertilization on climatic conditions in the municipality of Humaita State of Amazonas, Amazonia, Brazil. For both, pot experiment with soil after sowing was kept in a greenhouse at the Institute of Agriculture and ...

Soil carbon stock and physical attributes under land‐use chronosequence in the Brazilian Cerrado

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 3, September 2026.
Abstract Land‐use changes impact soil physical quality and carbon stocks. Most studies evaluating the conversion of native Brazilian Cerrado to agriculture focus on surface soil layers (up to 40 cm), with fewer examining deeper layers (0–100 cm). This study assessed the impacts of different land‐use systems on soil physical attributes and soil organic ...

Desempenho produtivo de Urochloa brizantha cv. Marandu em função da inoculação com Azospirillum e doses de nitrogênio

open access: yesAgro@mbiente On-line, 2017

open access: yesResearch, Society and Development, 2021

Grass species and climatic season impact on Rhipicephalus microplus temporal abundance in a tropical region

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 9, Page 8950-8962, September 2026.
The interaction between grass species and climatic season shapes the population dynamics of the cattle tick, Rhipicephalus microplus. This information highlights the potential of forage species to influence off‐host tick dynamics. Additionally, minimum temperature and minimum relative humidity were the most influential microclimatic predictors of ...

IMPACTS OF WATER STRESS ON Urochloa brizantha FORAGE CULTIVARS

open access: yesREVISTA DE AGRICULTURA NEOTROPICAL
Water deficit during the dry season is one of the main factors affecting the productivity and quality of pastures. The present work aims at evaluating the effects of water deficit on the morphological and productive characteristics of Urochloa brizantha cultivars grown in Quartzarenic Neosol.

A role for phytosiderophores by Poaceae to acquire phosphorus in severely phosphorus‐impoverished habitats

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 114, Issue 8, August 2026.
This study demonstrates that several native grasses employed phytosiderophores not only for Fe acquisition, but probably also to mobilise P in their natural severely P‐impoverished habitats, supported by concomitant carboxylate exudation. These findings expand our understanding of integrated P‐acquisition mechanisms in Poaceae within nutrient‐limited ...

A Meta‐Analysis Reveals That the Protective Role of Silicon in Grasses Against Fungal Pathogens Depends on Infection Mechanism

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 49, Issue 8, Page 5947-5964, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Pathogen infection drives plant community structure and constrains global agricultural productivity. Silicon (Si) improves resistance to abiotic and herbivory stress, particularly in grasses, but relatively little attention has addressed Si‐mediated resistance to pathogens, nor has it tested how this varies according to the type of plant and ...
