Desiccation Periods of Urochloa brizantha ‘Piatã’ Before Sunflower Sowing

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Science, 2013
In no-till farming, which integrates crops and livestock, the crop that is sown is often noted for reduced productivity. The aim of this experiment was to study the influence of a desiccation period of Urochloa brizantha ‘Piata’ on sunflower ‘Aguara 4’ development and productivity.

Effects of nitrogen fertilizer rate on dry matter yield, nutritive values and nitrate nitrogen of Guineagrass (Panicum maximum Jacq.) extremely late cultivar “Umaku” as a summer annual grass in a warm temperate zone

open access: yesGrassland Science, Volume 72, Issue 2, Page 151-160, April 2026.
Abstract Cultivation as a summer annual grass in temperate regions of new extremely late‐maturing guineagrass cultivar “Umaku” without heading with fertilizer application entails risks of toxic nitrate nitrogen (nitrate‐N) concentration in the grass.

Levels of nutrients and grain yield of maize intercropped with signalgrass (Brachiaria) in different arrangements of plants [PDF]

open access: yesPlanta Daninha, 2015
Competition between maize and signalgrass can economically cripple the intercropping by the reduced yield of maize and dry matter content of the forage. In seeking to define plant arrangements which make this system more efficient, this research was held

Calibration and evaluation of a carbon net primary productivity module based on the SIMPLE model

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 118, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
Abstract This study presents the carbon net primary productivity (CNPP) module, an implementation of the simple generic crop model (SIMPLE model) that we have extended to predict aboveground and belowground biomass production and carbon assimilation. The goal for this module is to predict biomass inputs at and below the soil surface, during and at the ...

Influence of Fertilization on the Phytoremediation of Lead‐Contaminated Soils Using Tropical Grasses

open access: yesEnvironmental Quality Management, Volume 35, Issue 3, Spring 2026.
ABSTRACT Lead is an element intensively used by human activities, representing serious risks to food security due to soil contamination, making it essential to implement control strategies to mitigate its harmful effects. The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of soil fertilization on the growth and lead accumulation of grasses used ...

Structural and Functional Shifts in Belowground Components Following Grass Invasion in a Tropical Savannah

open access: yesJournal of Vegetation Science, Volume 37, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
Our study reveals that the belowground component of Cerrado savannahs invaded by Urochloa brizantha is functionally and structurally different from that of non‐invaded areas. Invaded areas were dominated by the invader's fine roots and rhizomes, with reduced bud bank density.

Molecular and Structural Characterization of Foam Proteins from Mahanarva spectabilis (Distant, 1909) (Hemiptera: Cercopidae) Nymphs Reveals Adaptive Features and Potential Targets for Pest Control

open access: yesArchives of Insect Biochemistry and Physiology, Volume 121, Issue 2, February 2026.
Nymphs of Mahanarva spectabilis produce a protective foam that supports survival, reduces plant damage, and contributes to adult population establishment. Proteomic profiling combined with protein sequencing and structural modeling revealed foam proteins enriched in functional domains associated with environmental resilience.
