WEED MANAGEMENT IN CORN INTERCROPPED WITH Urochloa ruziziensis

open access: yesREVISTA DE AGRICULTURA NEOTROPICAL
Weed populations in monocrop or succession planting systems increase under inadequate management conditions. However, intercropping Urochloa ruziziensis with corn and precise adjustments in herbicide doses can facilitate management. This study sought options for chemical weed control in corn intercropped with U. ruziziensis.

Realized Genetic Gain in Spittlebugs (Hemiptera: Cercopidae) Resistance and Tolerance at CIAT's Interspecific Urochloa Breeding Programme

open access: yesPlant Breeding, Volume 145, Issue 1, Page 132-141, February 2026.
ABSTRACT The Interspecific Urochloa recurrent selection breeding programme at CIAT aims to integrate desirable traits such as resistance and tolerance to spittlebugs (Hemiptera: Cercopidae), the main insect pest affecting these pastures in Latin America.

Plant Growth‐Promoting Rhizobacteria Impacting Forage Mass of Urochloa ruziziensis and Megathyrsus maximus: A Reliable New Strategy for Tropical Pastures

open access: yesGrass and Forage Science, Volume 81, Issue 1, January-March 2026.
ABSTRACT Brazil is known for its extensive livestock production in pastures, supporting the world's second‐largest herd of cattle and being the leading beef exporter. However, livestock farming in Brazil has frequently been associated with soil degradation and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

Population structure and genetic diversity of Brachiaria grass (Urochloa spp.) accessions from the Democratic Republic of Congo using DArTseq single nucleotide polymorphism markers

open access: yesCrop Science, Volume 65, Issue 4, July/August 2025.
Abstract Brachiaria grass (Urochloa spp.) is one of the key forage grasses utilized in sub‐Saharan Africa for improving livestock productivity, particularly in terms of milk production and feed sufficiency. Limited information on its genetic resources has hindered its breeding and conservation strategies.

Períodos de dessecação de Urochloa ruziziensis e seu reflexo na produtividade da soja RR [PDF]

open access: yesPlanta Daninha, 2012

Enhancing Phenotyping Accuracy for Selection of Urochloa spp. Tolerant Genotypes to Red Spider Mite (Oligonychus trichardti)

open access: yesGrass and Forage Science, Volume 80, Issue 3, July-September 2025.
ABSTRACT The red spider mites are a major biotic limitation to productivity for Brachiaria (Urochloa spp.) grasses in tropical Eastern Africa, causing severe economic losses mainly in the dry seasons. However, due to the lack of reports of integrated pest management strategies, genetic resistance can play a crucial role in Brachiaria‐based livestock ...

Biology, Ecology, Distribution and Management of Large Crabgrass (Digitaria sanguinalis)

open access: yesWeed Research, Volume 65, Issue 4, July/August 2025.
ABSTRACT Digitaria sanguinalis (L.) Scop. (large crabgrass) is a globally distributed annual C4 grass and one of the most challenging weeds in agriculture, causing significant yield losses in crops such as maize, soyabean, rice, cotton and vegetables. This species thrives under favourable and unfavourable conditions such as disturbed soils, fluctuating

Structural and productive responses of signalgrass and its association with leaf area index and light interception under silvopastoral or monoculture systems

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 8, Issue 2, June 2025.
Abstract Silvopastoral systems (SPSs) have emerged as one of the most prominent alternatives for grassland recovery. We evaluated the structural and productive responses of signalgrass [Urochloa decumbens (Stapf.) R. D. Webster] and its association with leaf area index (LAI) and light interception (LI) measured with different equipment across different

The effect of cutting regime and genotype on growth, seed yield, seed quality and herbage yield of seven Urochloa (syn. Brachiaria) grass genotypes in the Adamawa region of Cameroon

open access: yesGrassland Science, Volume 70, Issue 2, Page 77-92, April 2024.
Abstract The performance of seven Urochloa grass genotypes (three worldwide cultivars cv. Basilisk, cv. Piata, cv. Xaraes and four landrace cv. Adamaoua1, cv. Adamaoua2, cv. North1 and cv. North2) subjected to two cutting regimes (mid‐June cut and mid‐July cut) was evaluated for regrowth characteristics, seed yields, seed quality and herbage production
