The LaserSAFE technique for margin assessment during radical prostatectomy: a feasibility study

open access: yesBJU International, EarlyView.
Objectives To assess the feasibility of conducting a multicentre trial comparing NeuroSAFE with a novel technique based on confocal laser microscopy (LaserSAFE) and evaluate the diagnostic performance of LaserSAFE for real‐time surgical margin assessment.

Impact of positive surgical margins on biochemical recurrence and metastases after radical prostatectomy

open access: yesBJU International, EarlyView.
Objectives To evaluate the impact of the presence, extent and location of positive surgical margins (PSMs) on the risk of biochemical recurrence (BCR) and metastases in a nationwide cohort of patients who underwent radical prostatectomy (RP) and had 5 years of follow‐up.

Feasibility and workflow analysis of confocal microscopy in robot‐assisted prostatectomy

open access: yesBJU International, EarlyView.
Objectives To assess the diagnostic accuracy, workflow feasibility, and downstream compatibility of fluorescence confocal microscopy (Histolog® Scanner [HS]; SamanTree Medical SA, Lausanne, Switzerland) compared with frozen section (FS) for intraoperative margin evaluation (IME) during nerve‐sparing robot‐assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP). Patients

The Australian Penile Cancer Clinical Registry: a comprehensive national approach to data collection

open access: yesBJU International, EarlyView.
Background Penile cancer is a rare malignancy, with an Australian incidence of 0.6 in 100 000 men, with a wide range of clinical presentations, from localised, curable tumours to aggressive forms with high morbidity and mortality.
