FASLG Derived from Fibroblasts in Hydroxyapatite‐Rich Microenvironment Induces Urothelial Anoikis to Trigger Randall's Plaque Exposure

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Randall's plaques (RP) serve as the nidus for calcium oxalate (CaOx) kidney stones. The current study reveals that hydroxyapatite (HAP) crystals activate the THY1–GSK3α/β–β‐catenin axis in renal interstitial fibroblasts (hRIFs), inducing FASLG secretion.

Can a graft be placed over a flap in complex hypospadias surgery? An experimental study in rabbits

open access: yesInternational Brazilian Journal of Urology
Purpose: To develop a rabbit experimental study to test the hypothesis that surgical repair of hypospadias with severe ventral curvatures might be completed in one stage, if a graft, such as buccal mucosa, could be placed over the tunica vaginalis flap ...

Penile fracture: A rare case of simultaneous rupture of the one corpus cavernosum and complete urethral rupture [PDF]

open access: yesVojnosanitetski Pregled, 2015
Introduction. Penile fracture is a traumatic rupture of tunica albuginea and the tumescent corpora cavernosa due to the nonphysiological bending of the penile shaft, presenting with or without rupture of corpus spongiosum and urethra.

Ex vivo renal perfusion and autotransplantation in treatment of calculous disease or abdominal aortic aneurysm. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
Two more indications are described for temporary ex vivo perfusion of kidneys with revascularization of these organs as autografts to orthotopic or heterotopic locations. One of the patients had staghorn calculi which were removed from a solitary kidney.

Dynamic Shifts in ER–Plasma Membrane Junctions Signaling Define Pro‐Metastatic N‐Glycosylation and Predict Prostate Cancer Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Prostate cancer remains a leading cause of male cancer death, yet screening cannot reliably identify aggressive disease, underscoring the need for tissue biomarkers. It is shown that primary tumors increase ER–plasma membrane junction signaling via STIM1/ORP5, whereas metastasis features their loss, Golgi dispersal, and rapid conversion of high‐mannose

Bioorthogonal Fluorogenic Reporters for Noninvasive Imaging and Urinalysis of Immunotherapeutic Response in Renal Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reported renal‐clearable bio‐orthogonal near‐infrared fluorogenic probes (BGRs) that specifically imaging and urinalysis of granzyme B for dynamic evaluation of RCC immunotherapy. BGRs not only differentiate immunotherapeutic responses in orthotopic RCC mice, but also enable sensitive optical urinalysis of granzyme B in clinical specimens ...

Large‐Scale Quantitative Morphometry of Platelet α‐Granules via SIM Super‐Resolution Microscopy for Cancer Liquid Biopsy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Blood‐based liquid biopsies hold transformative potential for non‐invasive cancer management, but current approaches relying on rare circulating tumor components limit their broad clinical utility. Platelets, abundant in blood and mediating diverse cancer‐associated responses, represent a compelling yet largely unexplored alternative.

Prevalence of frailty syndrome in urological patients undergoing major elective surgical procedure due to malignancy

open access: yesCentral European Journal of Urology, 2022
The group of elderly urological patients is growing. A majority of urological operations is performed in this group. The current model of preoperative assessment is developed to be effective in younger groups of patients but not in the elderly. Frailty syndrome has been confirmed to be an effective risk stratification tool in many surgical settings. It
