Ficus macrophylla Desf. ex Pers. is redescribed with two forms, F. macrophylla f. macrophylla and F. macrophylla f. columnaris (C.Moore) D.J.Dixon. Morphological data as well as reproductive data was used to assess the criteria for infraspecific concepts of the taxa associated with F. macrophylla .

Abstract The resemblance between the Malesian F. glaberrima Bl. and the Indian F. arnottiana Miq. is considered to be the result of convergent simplification. The origin of F. glaber­rima is referred to the stock of the Malesian F. depressa Bl., that of F. arnottiana to the stock of the Indochinese F. orthoneura Lévi, et Vant.

A revision of the species complexes of ‘ Ficus platypoda ’ and ‘ Ficus leucotricha ’ (Moraceae: Urostigma sect. Malvanthera Corner) is presented. A phenetic analysis of morphometric characters using clustering techniques and multidimensional scaling was used to identify the taxa in each species complex.
