Low Grade Lymphoma Mimicking Metastatic Urothelial Carcinoma: When Do We Need Further Histologic Staging?

open access: yesCase Reports in Oncological Medicine, 2016
Introduction. Patients with urothelial carcinoma of the bladder often present with metastases to regional lymph nodes, with lymphadenopathy on physical examination or radiographic imaging. Case Presentation. We present the case of a 73-year-old Caucasian

Renal Collecting Duct Carcinoma and Concomitant Bladder Urothelial Carcinoma: A Case Report

open access: yesKaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, 2008
The simultaneous occurrence of renal collecting duct (Bellini duct) carcinoma and bladder urothelial carcinoma is very rare. A 68-year-old female patient with bladder urothelial carcinoma first received transurethral resection of the tumor.

Radiation-Induced Urothelial Carcinoma [PDF]

open access: yesUrologia Internationalis, 1996
Four cases of urothelial carcinoma following pelvic irradiation for carcinomas of the cervix uteri (n = 3) and the ovary (n = 1) are reported. The urothelial carcinomas developed 26.8 (mean) years after radiotherapy and invaded the bladder in 3 patients and the ureter in 1. Despite radical surgery, the patients died of metastatic cancer.

A rare case of plasmacytoid urothelial carcinoma of bladder: Diagnostic dilemmas and clinical implications

open access: yesIndian Journal of Urology, 2011
Plasmacytoid urothelial carcinoma is an uncommon and aggressive variant of urothelial carcinoma associated with late presentation and poor prognosis. We discuss here the first reported case from India of a 54-year-old male who presented with hematuria ...

Complete Response of Rare Sarcomatoid Upper Tract Urothelial Carcinoma Variant: Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesCase Reports in Oncology, 2023
Infiltrating urothelial carcinoma sarcomatoid variant is a rare variant of urothelial carcinoma. We report a case of a 68-year-old female with a history of hematuria. CT scan with contrast showed a mass in the 1/3 distal of the right ureter.

Epidemiology of urothelial carcinoma [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Urology, 2017
AbstractThe epithelium lining is defined as the mucosal surfaces of the renal collecting tubules, calyces and pelvis, as well as the ureter, bladder and urethra. The term “urothelium” is used to refer to these surfaces. Upper tract urothelial carcinoma is a rare subset of urothelial cancers with a poor prognosis.

Evolving concepts of micropapillary variant urothelial carcinoma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Micropapillary variant (MPV) urothelial carcinoma remains an uncommon, challenging to treat entity. Recent research has emerged that examines the genetic expression profile of MPV urothelial carcinoma and provides a new perspective on this challenging to

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.
