The Effect of Swiss Free Trade Agreements on Agricultural Trade

open access: yesKyklos, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As a country highly dependent on imports, Switzerland has many free trade agreements (FTAs) that liberalise trade barriers. We assess how these agreements affect Swiss agricultural imports at different margins of trade adjustment. We estimate reduced‐form gravity models using agricultural trade data for 202 partner countries from 2004 to 2022.

Peripheral Budding Following Range Expansion Explains Diversity and Distribution of One‐Sided Livebearing Fish

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Peripheral budding occurs when populations diverge from a widespread parental population and speciate along its periphery, facilitated by the interaction of ecological and geographic barriers. This phenomenon results in species that contrast in range size and ecological tolerance and can lead to confounding phylogenies.

Characterizing Fraser's Dolphin (Lagenodelphis hosei) in the Lesser Antilles: Distribution, Movements, and Co‐Occurrence With Other Cetacean Species to Inform Conservation Strategies in the Caribbean

open access: yesMarine Mammal Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Fraser's dolphin (Lagenodelphis hosei) is one of the least studied dolphin species due to its tropical, offshore distribution and low density. However, it is frequently observed in the Lesser Antilles, where we characterized its distribution and ecology using 4 years of data collected from Grenada to Anguilla.

Brazil climate highlights 2023

open access: yesAnnals of the New York Academy of Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract In the year 2023, the Earth experienced the highest near‐surface temperature anomalies ever recorded until then. In addition, several extreme weather and climate events occurred around the world, including in Brazil. In this context, the primary objective of this study is to analyze the anomalous temperature and precipitation patterns observed
