Under the Constitution of 1830, Catholicism was proclaimed the official religion of the new state of Uruguay. Conflicts between church and state broke out almost immediately, leading to the second Constitution in 1919 which solidified a separation of church and state.

En lo que respecta a leyes referentes a la delincuencia, muy poco se ha hecho, debido a que el país está sufriendo muchos problemas económicos, y el Gobierno se ha dedicado fundamentalmente a enfrentar dichos problemas. Sólo recordaremos que se plantea una reforma del Código del niño.

The effects of the Uruguay Round are quantified using a numerical general equilibrium model which incorporates increasing returns to scale, 24 regions, 22 commodities, and steady state growth effects. We conclude that the aggregate welfare gains from the Round are in the order of 96 billion per year in the short run, but could be as high as 171 billion
