We characterize the centre of the Banach lattice of Banach lattice E‐valued continuous functions on the Alexandroff duplicate of a compact Hausdorff space K in terms of the centre of C(K, E), the space of E‐valued continuous functions on K. We also identify the centre of CD0(Q, E) = C(Q, E) + c0(Q, E) whose elements are the sums of E‐valued continuous ...

A survey of weighted substitution operators and generalizations of Banach‐stone theorem
The classical Banach‐Stone theorem characterizes linear surjective isometries between C(K)‐spaces. The main aim of this paper is to present a survey of Banach‐Stone‐theorem‐type results between some function spaces. The weighted substitution operators play an important role in characterization of isometries, disjointness preserving operators, and ...

Positive operators and approximation in function spaces on completely regular spaces
We discuss the approximation properties of nets of positive linear operators acting on function spaces defined on Hausdorff completely regular spaces. A particular attention is devoted to positive operators which are defined in terms of integrals with respect to a given family of Borel measures.

Reflecting Lindel\"of and converging omega_1-sequences
We deal with a conjectured dichotomy for compact Hausdorff spaces: each such space contains a non-trivial converging omega-sequence or a non-trivial converging omega_1-sequence. We establish that this dichotomy holds in a variety of models; these include

Some results regarding the ideal structure of C∗$C^*$‐algebras of étale groupoids
Abstract We prove a sandwiching lemma for inner‐exact locally compact Hausdorff étale groupoids. Our lemma says that every ideal of the reduced C∗$C^*$‐algebra of such a groupoid is sandwiched between the ideals associated to two uniquely defined open invariant subsets of the unit space.

We prove that a countable connected Hausdorff space in which the intersection of every pair of connected subsets is connected, cannot be locally connected, and also that every continuous function from a countable connected, locally connected Hausdorff space, to a countable connected Hausdorff space in which the intersection of every pair of connected ...

On complemented copies of the space c0 in spaces Cp(X,E)$C_p(X,E)$
Abstract We study the question for which Tychonoff spaces X and locally convex spaces E the space Cp(X,E)$C_p(X,E)$ of continuous E‐valued functions on X contains a complemented copy of the space (c0)p={x∈Rω:x(n)→0}$(c_0)_p=\lbrace x\in \mathbb {R}^\omega : x(n)\rightarrow 0\rbrace$, both endowed with the pointwise topology.

Finitely approximable groups and actions Part II: Generic representations [PDF]
Given a finitely generated group $\Gamma$, we study the space ${\rm Isom}(\Gamma,{\mathbb Q\mathbb U})$ of all actions of $\Gamma$ by isometries of the rational Urysohn metric space ${\mathbb Q\mathbb U}$, where ${\rm Isom}(\Gamma,{\mathbb Q\mathbb U ...

A property preserved under a semi‐homeomorphism is said to be a semi‐topological property. In the present paper we prove the following results: (1) A topological property P is semi‐topological if and only if the statement (X, 𝒯) has P if and only if (X, F(𝒯)) has P′ is true where F(𝒯) is the finest topology on X having the same family of semi‐open sets

The Sine Transform of Isotropic Measures [PDF]
Sharp isoperimetric inequalities for the sine transform of even isotropic measures are established. The corresponding reverse inequalities are obtained in an asymptotically optimal form.
