Light element analysis of ceramics using in-air ERDA and TOF-ERDA
Abstract Ceramics such as Li2ZrO3 and Li4SiO4 have interesting features of water vapor and carbon dioxide absorption. However, the mechanism of absorption catalysis is not well understood. The element behavior in ceramics was measured using ion beam analysis.

Treatment of waste lubricating oil using BERC/ERDA solvent [PDF]
From data generated in the laboratory and pilot plant studies a quality rerefined oil can be produced via BERC/ERDA solvent extraction and clay treatment. Some of the important processing variables that determine the quality of the finished product are temperature of solvent extraction, type of clay used, temperature and time of clay treatment, and the

A two-state model of twisted intramolecular chargetransfer in monomethine dyes [PDF]
A two-state model Hamiltonian is proposed to model the coupling of twisting displacements to charge-transfer behavior in the ground and excited states of a general monomethine dye molecule.

On the formation of blisters in annealed hydrogenated a-Si layers [PDF]
Differently hydrogenated radio frequency-sputtered a-Si layers have been studied by infrared (IR) spectroscopy as a function of the annealing time at 350 Celsius with the aim to get a deeper understanding of the origin of blisters previously observed ...

Retention of deuterium in beryllium: A combined investigation using TDS, ERDA and EBS
We have studied the retention of deuterium in beryllium, implanted with an energy of 500 eV/D, using a combination of thermal desorption spectroscopy, elastic recoil detection analysis and elastic backscattering spectroscopy. The parallel use of these techniques allowed us to directly quantify the absolute deuterium content reduction of the sample for ...

Reconnaissance of coastal areas using simulated EnMAP data in an ERDAS IMAGINE environment [PDF]
Operations in a military naval context require a detailed planning and information gathering. For this purpose, remote sensing is a useful technique without in-situ survey. A collaboration of Fraunhofer IOSB (Institute of Optronics, System Technologies and Image Exploitation), DLR (German Aerospace Center), and Bundeswehr Geoinformation Centre ZGeoBw ...

Monitoring Ion Track Formation Using In Situ RBS/c, ToF-ERDA, and HR-PIXE [PDF]
The aim of this work is to investigate the feasibility of ion beam analysis techniques for monitoring swift heavy ion track formation. First, the use of the in situ Rutherford backscattering spectrometry in channeling mode to observe damage build-up in quartz SiO2 after MeV heavy ion irradiation is demonstrated.

Transport in polymer-gel composites: Theoretical methodology and response to an electric field
A theoretical model of electromigrative, diffusive and convectivetransport polymer-gel composites is presented. Bulk properties are derived from the standard electrokinetic model with an impenetrable charged sphere embedded in an electrolyte-saturated ...

Perfect Composition Depth Profiling of Ionic Liquid Surfaces Using High-resolution RBS/ERDA
In order to reveal the surface structures of large molecular ionic liquids (ILs), the near-surface elemental depth distributions of 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide ([CnC1Im][Tf2N], n = 2, 6, 10) were studied using high-resolution Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy (HRBS) in combination with high-resolution elastic ...
