Cost Structures of US Organ Procurement Organizations

Transplantation, 2021
Background. The goal is to provide a national analysis of organ procurement organization (OPO) costs. Methods. Five years of data, for 51 of the 58 OPOs (2013–2017, a near census) were obtained under a FOIA. OPOs are not-for-profit federal contractors with a geographic monopoly.

The Organization and Use of Parallel Memories

IEEE Transactions on Computers, 1971
As computer CPUs get faster, primary memories tend to be organized in parallel banks. The fastest machines now being developed can fetch of the order of 100 words in parallel. Unless memory and compiler designers are careful, serious memory conflicts and resulting performance degradation may result.

Organic Synthesis Using Nitroxides

Chemical Reviews, 2023
Nitroxides, also known as nitroxyl radicals, are long-lived or stable radicals with the general structure R1R2N-O•. The spin distribution over the nitroxide N and O atoms contributes to the thermodynamic stability of these radicals. The presence of bulky N-substituents R1 and R2 prevents nitroxide radical dimerization, ensuring their kinetic stability.

Pediatric Donor Management Goals in Use by US Organ Procurement Organizations

Progress in Transplantation, 2019
Introduction: A recent study of pediatric organ donation after the neurologic determination of death (DNDD) demonstrated an association between the use of donor management goals (DMGs) by organ procurement organizations (OPOs) and organ yield. Objective:

Organic Oxidations Using Geomimicry

The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2015
Oxidations of phenylacetic acid to benzaldehyde, benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde, and benzaldehyde to benzoic acid have been observed, in water as the solvent and using only copper(II) chloride as the oxidant. The reactions are performed at 250 °C and 40 bar, conditions that mimic hydrothermal reactions that are geochemically relevant.
