Ex-Situ Remediation of a Metal-Contaminated Superfund Soil Using Selective Extractants
Journal of Environmental Engineering, 1998The Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act requires the use of remedial technologies that permanently and significantly reduce the volume, toxicity, or mobility of contaminated materials at affected sites. Extractive processes can accomplish the requirements of the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act.

Design of a Ground‐Water Extraction/Reinjection System at a Superfund Site Using MODFLOW
Groundwater, 1997Abstract A sand and gravel quarry was simultaneously operated as a landfill. The underlying contaminated aquifer is unconfined at the landfill and becomes confined as it dips to the north. A ground‐water model based on the MODFLOW program was developed to evaluate remediation alternatives and provide a basis for modifying the Record ...

Abstract In this paper, the methodology used by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to protect a small population that may be at high risk, referred to as the “maximally exposed individual”; (MEI) is assessed. Monte Carlo techniques and more reasonable values for exposure parameters are used to determine a more physiologically ...

Development of a Treatability Study Work Plan for Testing Nanoparticles at a US DOE Superfund Site
World Environmental and Water Resources Congress 2010, 2010This paper introduces the basic requirements for developing a treatability study work plan for implementation of a remediation technology at a Superfund site. Specifically, the application of nanoparticle technology for remediation of a TCE plume at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant in western Kentucky is discussed.
