Criteria For Evaluating Usability Evaluation Methods
International Journal of Human-Computer Interaction, 2001The current variety of alternative approaches to usability evaluation methods (UEMs) designed to assess and improve usability in software systems is offset by a general lack of understanding of the capabilities and limitations of each. Practitioners need to know which methods are more effective and in what ways and for what purposes.

Web sites usability, usability requirements specification & usability evaluation
Proceedings of the 44th annual Southeast regional conference, 2006World Wide Web has gained its dominant status in the information and services delivery world in recent years, but how to build a good usability web site is still a problem. In this paper, we proposed a methodology for structured use-centered quantitative full-life-cycle usability requirements specification and usability evaluation of web sites.

Proceedings of the 2009 Annual Research Conference of the South African Institute of Computer Scientists and Information Technologists, 2009
The strengths and weaknesses of heuristic evaluation have been well researched. Despite known weaknesses, heuristic evaluation is still widely used since formal usability testing (also referred to as empirical user testing) is more costly and time consuming.

Experimental Evaluation of Usability Heuristics
2013 10th International Conference on Information Technology: New Generations, 2013This paper presents an empirical analysis about how the Nielsen's usability heuristics are perceived by novice evaluators. Twenty-eight undergraduate students of an Informatics Engineering program were trained in usability and heuristic evaluations for this purpose. They were asked to perform a heuristic evaluation of a transactional Web site. A survey

Usability evaluation with the cognitive walkthrough
Conference companion on Human factors in computing systems - CHI '95, 1995The cognitive walkthrough is a technique for evaluating the design of a user interface, with speciaJ attention to how well the interface supports "exploratory learning," i.e., first-time use without formal training. The evaluation can be performed by the system's designers in the e,arly stages of design, before empirical user testing is possible. Early
