Energetic Utilization of Used Tires
Energy Sources, 2002In this study, used tire pyrolysis experiments were performed in a captive sample reactor, at atmospheric pressure, under a helium atmosphere. The effects of temperature on the yields and composition of the pyrolysis products were investigated. Char yield decreased with the temperature of pyrolysis, while total gas yield increased.

Estimation of Tire–Road Contact Features Using Strain-Based Intelligent Tire
Tire Science And Technology, 2018ABSTRACT Sensors attached inside the tire near the contact area can provide crucial information on contact characteristics, e.g., slip, forces, and deformation of tires. Vehicle control systems such as antilock braking systems (ABS) and vehicle-stability control (VSC) can be enhanced by leveraging this information, since control algorithms can ...

A Method to Estimate Critical Tire Properties Using Non-Linear Tire Models
Volume 9: Mechanical Systems and Control, Parts A, B, and C, 2007This paper describes a method to estimate lateral and longitudinal cornering stiffness, as well as the maximum tire force. Knowledge of these parameters can be critical for certain vehicle control systems that need to understand the tire’s limits, especially during turning maneuvers and acceleration.

Detection of tire types using tire noise from passing vehicles
Signal and Information Processing Association Annual Summit and Conference (APSIPA), 2014 Asia-Pacific, 2014Winter tire is important and helpful for road users or automobile drivers to obviate serious traffic accidents. They also help road administrators to prevent many slip traffic accidents by such vehicles especially from the expressways, particularly in a snowy area.

Investigating the Parameterization of Dugoff Tire Model Using Experimental Tire-Ice Data
SAE International Journal of Passenger Cars - Mechanical Systems, 2016<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">Tire modeling plays an important role in the development of an Active Vehicle Safety System. As part of a larger project that aims at developing an integrated chassis control system, this study investigates the performance of a 19” all-season tire on ice for a sport utility ...

Ecological Dimension of Tire Management. Environmental Impact of Tire Use [PDF]
The eco-efficiency situation is more present as we become more aware of the fact that nature has provided and continues to offer a variety of production and consumption goods, but one individual has to adjust responsibly to the natural capital in order to understand the need for using it in a sustainable manner.

Tire Force Estimation Using Intelligent Tire System Detecting Carcass Deformation
SAE Technical Paper Series<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">In this paper, an intelligent tire system is designed to estimate tire force by detecting the tire carcass deformation. The intelligent tire system includes a set of marker points on the inner liner of the tire to locate the position of tire carcass and a camera mounted on the ...

Numerical investigation of tire standing wave using 3-D patterned tire model
Journal of Sound and Vibration, 2007The tire standing wave is one of the crucial factors that may lead to unexpected tire structural failure because the total strain energy of the tire dramatically increases when it occurs. However, its analytical analysis has been limited owing not only to the complicated tire structure and material composition, but also to the problem nonlinearity.

A New Tire Expansion Rule and Its Use in Tire Design Computations
Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1969Abstract The carcasses of most early automobile tires were built by stretching bias cut, rubberized, square woven fabric more than once around the major circumference of a toroidal core. By 1914, two crossed rubber coated cord warps had been substituted for each layer of fabric.
