Structural and physico-mechanical properties of natural rubber/GTR composites devulcanized by microwaves: influence of GTR source and irradiation time [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Ground tire rubber from car and truck was modified using microwave irradiation at variable time. The irradiated ground tire rubber was used as filler in composites based on natural rubber.

Tire Defect Detection Using Adaptive Dictionary

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2021
Abstract This paper proposes a new algorithm for detecting tire defects, which is based on principal component analysis and adaptive dictionary learning. Because the defects on the side of the tire are very small and difficult to detect, the dictionary is directly obtained from the test image itself instead of the reference image ...

Feasibility and Preliminary Efficacy of Integrative Neuromuscular Training for Childhood Cancer Survivors: A Pilot Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Survivors of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) often exhibit early deficits in muscle and movement competence, which can compromise long‐term health. Integrative neuromuscular training (INT), a multifaceted approach combining fundamental movement activities with strength exercises, may help address these deficits during ...

Effective Utilization of Used Tires. Thermal Cracking of Used Tires mixed with Potassium Hydroxide.

open access: yesJournal of the Japan Institute of Energy, 2000
From a viewpoint of used tires recycling, their pyrolytic conversion into an adsorbent with co-production of gaseous fuels was examined. Crushed used truck tread with diameter of 3mm or less was mixed with potassium hydroxide, and the mixture was cracked under a flow of argon in a thermobalance or a gas flow continuous reaction apparatus. The resulting

Therapeutic Apheresis for Intravenous Methylprednisolone‐Refractory Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder: Clinical and Radiological Outcomes in a Single‐Center Case Series

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is a relapsing autoimmune disease of the central nervous system. High‐dose intravenous methylprednisolone (IVMP) is the standard first‐line therapy for acute attacks, although some patients remain refractory.

Experimental study on flexural strength of slurry infiltrated fibrous concrete (SIFCON) produced with various percentages of waste steel fibers recovered from used tires [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Slurry Infiltrated Fibrous Concrete (SIFCON), a modified version of Fiber Reinforced Concrete (FRC), addresses the challenge of increased fiber volume fractions. Commercially produced steel fibers are typically used in FRC and SIFCON.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

USED TIRE AS BASE ISOLATOR TIRE FOR EARTHQUAKE RESISTANT HOUSES

open access: yesJurnal Rekayasa Sipil (JRS-Unand), 2011
The investigation of foundation on tires for absorbing the earthquake energy on houses structure is described here. The foundations are cut cone in shape. There are two tests have been conducted to investigate the shaking energy absorption. First, the foundation is placed on the sand filled tire.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

On the influence of tyre and structural properties on the stability of bicycles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In recent years the Whipple Carvallo Bicycle Model has been extended to analyse high speed stability of bicycles. Various researchers have developed models taking into account the effects of front frame compliance and tyre properties, nonetheless, a ...
