Monte Carlo modeling of radiation dose from radiation therapy with superficial x‐rays
Abstract Introduction Superficial x‐rays (50–100 kVp) are used for treating non‐melanoma skin cancer and intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT). At these energies, the photoelectric effect significantly increases absorbed dose to bone compared to soft tissue.

Cooperative processing user interfaces for AdaNET [PDF]
A cooperative processing user interface (CUI) system shares the task of graphical display generation and presentation between the user's computer and a remote host. The communications link between the two computers is typically a modem or Ethernet.

Abstract Introduction Many artificial intelligence (AI) solutions have been proposed to enhance the radiotherapy (RT) workflow, but limited applications have been implemented to date, suggesting an implementation gap. One contributing factor to this gap is a misalignment between AI systems and their users.

Enhancing user interface accessibility using computer vision [PDF]
Accessibility features for vision-impaired users are typically provided by oral readouts of on-screen icons or other material. The task of transcribing in-app icons to text for text-to-speech conversion is typically left to the app developer.

In vivo transit dosimetry methodology for whole breast intensity modulated radiation therapy
Abstract Background In vivo transit dosimetry using an electronic portal imaging device (EPID‐IVTD) is an important tool for verifying the accuracy of radiation therapy treatments. Despite its potential, the implementation of EPID‐IVTD in breast intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) treatments has not yet been standardized, limiting its clinical

A virtual reality user interface for a design information system [PDF]
The computer is a tool, a complex artefact that is used to extend our reach. A computer system can provide several kinds of services, but against these services stands a supplementary task that the user must deal with: the communication with the computer
