Pulmonary development in Squamata: Insights from embryonic studies using micro‐CT

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Pulmonary development in tetrapods is a complex process, especially within squamates, where single‐chambered, transitional, and multi‐chambered lungs can be found in adult animals. While the embryological development of the respiratory system of lizards and snakes was studied in a number of species between the 1830s and 1940s, the ...

Covalent Immobilization of Laccase on Mesoporous Bismuth Silicate for High‐Performance Biodegradation of Contaminants

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Myceliophthora thermophila laccase covalently immobilized on bismuth silicate (BiSi‐ext) achieved synergistic adsorption–biodegradation of Tectilon Blue 4R‐01 and ibuprofen. The biocatalyst showed enhanced stability, reusability, and rapid pollutant removal via expanded active‐site accessibility, enabling efficient, eco‐friendly wastewater remediation.

Gravitational Waves from Wobbling Pulsars

open access: yes, 1994
The prospects for detection of gravitational waves from precessing pulsars have been considered by constructing fully relativistic rotating neutron star models and evaluating the expected wave amplitude $h$ from a galactic source. For a "typical" neutron

The WD40-repeat Proteins WDR-20 and WDR-48 Bind and Activate the Deubiquitinating Enzyme USP-46 to Promote the Abundance of the Glutamate Receptor GLR-1 in the Ventral Nerve Cord of Caenorhabditis elegans*

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2013
Background: USP-46 deubiquitinates the C. elegans glutamate receptor GLR-1. Results: WDR-20 and WDR-48 bind and activate USP-46 in vitro and increase the abundance of GLR-1 in neurons. Conclusion: WD40-repeat proteins stimulate USP-46 activity, resulting
