Estimating uterine activity from electrohysterogram measurements via statistical tensor decomposition [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Complications during pregnancy and labor are common and can be especially detrimental in populations with limited access to healthcare. A promising technology to address these complications is the electrohysterogram (EHG), which measures abdominal electric potentials.

High-intensity focused ultrasound therapy in the uterine fibroid: a clinical case study of poor heating efficacy [PDF]

open access: yes41st Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC), 2019, pp. 2500-2503, 2019
A clinical case study of high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) treatment in the uterine fibroid was conducted. During the therapy, poor heating efficacy was observed which could be attributed to several factors such as the local perfusion rate, patient-specific anatomy or changes in acoustic parameters of the ultrasound field.

The effects of leaflet material properties on the simulated function of regurgitant mitral valves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Advances in three-dimensional imaging provide the ability to construct and analyze finite element (FE) models to evaluate the biomechanical behavior and function of atrioventricular valves. However, while obtaining patient-specific valve geometry is now possible, non-invasive measurement of patient-specific leaflet material properties remains nearly ...
